WHAT CONTESTANTS NEED TO KNOW

Registration Fee of $150 to enter. Deadline is October 7, 2026.

* Full prizes will be based on a minimum of 6 teams

Team Captain/Coach.
Dance team must designate someone to be the Team Captain or Team Coach. It’s his/her responsibility to read, understand & sign all the necessary forms for the team to be accepted into the dance competition. He/she will also serve as the team representative to check in/out every day of the competition.

Applications may be accepted via Jotform.
Performance Requirements
- Must have a different dance style and song for each round of competition
  - Round one: A Traditional Hmong Dance
  - Round Two: A Laos,Thai, or Chinese Dance
  - Prepare a third dance of your choice in case of a tie breaker (open to all cultural ideas but excludes Hip Hop and Breakdance)
- Must wear different outfits per round.
  - No need for an extra outfit for the tie breaker round
- Performance must be no less than 3 minutes and no more than 6 minutes
Music Requirements
The Team Captain or Coach is responsible for submitting a MP3 soundtrack to okhmongny@gmail.com AND having a thumb drive with the music for onsite backup.

The New Year Committee’s sound technician will not adjust the speed of the music or make edits in the music. Please collect all music immediately after the competition daily. The committee is not responsible for any music or equipment left behind after the event.

Submission must be labeled with the following:
- Team Name
- Team Captain Name or coach
Judging & Scores
There will be a panel of judges who are well versed in all categories. The judges will evaluate each performance in the areas of technique, execution, choreography, musicality and overall appearance. All judges’ decisions & scores are final.

Note: If any team shall request to see their own score sheets, it will be available to view after announcing the top 3 teams. Only the Team Leader has the right to request to view their team scores at the end of the competition with the Program Coordinator(s): TBD

Note: Restricted props: confetti, baby powder, flour, powder, gel, weapons, anything harmful and difficult to clean up

(HMAAO). I understand that failure to comply with these rules and conditions may result in penalties, point deductions, disqualification, forfeiture of awards or prizes, or removal from the competition, as determined by event officials.
