Competition Terms & Condition Guidelines:
1. Prizes:
1st Place $1,000
2nd Place $500
3rd Place $300
* Each category competition must have the minimum requirement of 6 singers for the program to proceed and meet the minimum requirement to receive the full prize.
Monetary prizes will be awarded immediately following the announcement of winners.
2. Registration Fee
A non-refundable registration fee of $50 is required. A late registration fee of $55 will apply after the deadline.
3. Competition Format
The competition will consist of two (2) rounds. Each contestant must perform two (2) songs—one (1) song per round.
- Round One: Must be a Hmong-language song.
- Round Two: May be either a Hmong or English-language song.
In the event of a tie, each tied contestant will be required to perform one (1) additional song to determine final placement.
4. Accompaniment Rules
Contestants in vocal categories are strictly prohibited from using any form of recorded or synthesized vocals in their accompaniment. This includes pre-recorded live voices or any digitally generated vocalizations.
5. Parent/Guardian Conduct
Parents or guardians may not interfere with or approach any contestant before, during, or after the competition. Violation of this rule will result in the immediate disqualification of their associated contestant.
6. Contestant Conduct
All contestants are expected to maintain professional and respectful behavior throughout the competition.
7. Instrumental Accompaniment
Instrumental accompaniment is allowed but will not be judged. Accompaniment must support the vocal performance without overshadowing it. Performances should be able to stand alone vocally.
8. Judging
Each competition will be evaluated by a minimum of three (3) judges. Judges' decisions are final, except in the case of a tie.
9. Minor Contestants
Contestants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult who will be held accountable for the actions of the minor contestant or group.
10. Check-In
All contestants must check in with the Singing Competition Coordinator upon arrival and at the designated times on both days of the competition.
11. Attendance
Failure to appear when called to perform may result in disqualification.
12. Registration Closure
No additional registrations will be accepted in any category once the first contestant has performed. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Program Coordinator.
13. Contestant Number & Performance Order
Each contestant will retain the same number throughout both preliminary and final rounds. Performance order will be determined at the time of registration.
14. Backstage Etiquette
Contestants must remain quiet and respectful while in the backstage area. All practicing or vocal warm-ups must be conducted away from the immediate backstage space.
15. Dress Code
Contestants must wear appropriate attire for all rounds of competition.
16. Music Submission
Please email a MP3 soundtrack to okhmongny@gmail.com AND having a thumb drive with the music for onsite backup.
17. Registration Deadline
The registration fee must be submitted no later than October 7, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. Central Time.
