  • Criteria and Eligibility


    The OPLA Children's or Youth Services Librarian of the Year Award is given to honour a children's librarian who has made a positive impact on children's or youth services librarianship.

    The nominee must be a member of OLA/OPLA and will have made a significant contribution in the following areas:

    Active involvement in the public library profession.
    Enhanced service to children and youth in the local library.
    Innovation.
    Strong advocacy for service to children and youth.
    Modelling children's and youth services librarianship as a rewarding career.
    Being a positive role model to colleagues and the wider community.
    The nominator must also be a member in good standing of OLA/OPLA.

    Timeline


    March 31: Nominations Due
    June Council Meeting: Nominations deliberated and decisions made
    Early-Mid July: Nominators/Nominees informed of decisions and picture of winner(s) requested
    Early-Mid August: Final award presentation details known and provided to Nominators/Nominees

    What to Include


    In addition to the form submission, support can be letters of support, samples of their work, photographs, news clippings, etc.
