Target Plant Population - is the number of plants per meter square you wish to establish. This will vary for winter and spring drilling. Winter cereals are generally lower due to their greater tillering ability. Range 200 - 400 plants per square metre.
Thousand Grain Weight (TGW) - this is the weight of 1000 seeds in grams, usually in a range of 30 - 50 grams. It is avalable from your seed supplier or whoever tested your seed for home-saved seed.
Germination - this information will be available from your seed supplier or whoever tested your seed for home-saved seed.
Field Losses - "one for the slug, one for the crow, one to rot and one to grow" - this is an estimate of the percentage of seed lost. It will be affected by drilling date and circumstance; a field surrounded by woods may well lose more to birds for example. Could be to be 30% and possibly higher.
