In a time when everyone seems to be telling you what you cannot do and you have had to give up activities that you love, we are here to tell you what you can DO! Try out our Virtual Duathlon - where you can DU & DU again!
Is this for me?
Have you ever wanted to do an "-athlon" but felt too intimidated? This duathlon is unique and built for anyone! A duathlon is a multiple stage event, similar to a triathlon, with running and biking and has three stages. The typical distances for a sprint distance duathlon are: Run/Walk 3.1 miles + Bike 19.4 miles + Run/Walk 1.6 miles. A virtual duathlon event is ideal right now because you can do it on your own time, at your own pace and in your own space. You can complete the virtual Run-Bike-Run inside on a stationary bike, on a treadmill, or outside on your local roads, trails and bike paths. The three legs can be done all at once or broken into one leg per day. That’s the beauty of virtual racing. Don't have a bike? Don't like to run? You can walk or opt to do just one. For those who complete their goals and participate in the duathlon event(s), join in the celebration at the end where you will receive a duathlon medal!
Why "Du & Du Again"?
The reason it is titled “DU & DU AGAIN” is because you have the option of training for one during the first half of summer to set a benchmark and a second to improve during the second half of summer. Coach Denise Geroux is your trainer and in addition to one-on-one support, setting goals and training schedules, she offers 3 virtual group training sessions per week via Zoom.
When can I start?
Kickoff is May 19, from 6:00-7:30pm on Zoom. Trainings will take place via Zoom every Tuesday & Thursday from 6:00-7:30pm and Saturdays from 12:00-2:00pm. Duathlons will take place the last week of June and the last week of August. Train for one or both.
What will we do during training sessions?
Training sessions will start with 30 minute Zoom online warm-up, strengthening and core work followed by briefing on the run or bike workout with form & skill demos. Then you can complete your workout on your own, either indoors on treadmill, stationary bike or bike on trainer OR outside if possible. Sessions will be recorded and posted in case you can't join at that time.
Is there a cost? Is this a fundraiser?
The training and events associated with these duathlons are completely free to TSNW members. This is NOT a fundraiser. (Haven't filled out a TSNW membership form since before November? Click here.)
