Position Overview
The Team Leader plays a crucial role in ensuring Team Ontario operates smoothly during the Canadian Senior National Championships. This individual will act as the primary contact point for senior athletes and coaches, manage administrative tasks, and support athletes to achieve their best performance. The position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, leadership experience, and a strong understanding of the weightlifting competitive structure.

Key Responsibilities
Attendance for Full Competition
- Be present for the duration of the competition, from the technical meeting to the last session, to provide consistent support to athletes and coaches.
Primary Contact Point
- Serve as the main point of contact for all Ontario senior athletes (male and female) participating in the championships.
- Address athlete and coach questions and concerns related to nationals.
Form and Documentation Management
- Ensure all required forms (e.g., waivers, entry forms, and team agreements) are signed and submitted by specified deadlines.
- Liaise with the appropriate representatives to confirm documentation is complete and accurate.
Scheduling and Logistics
- Develop and communicate schedules for athletes without personal coaches, ensuring they have proper support during warm-ups and competition.
- Coordinate with the coaching team to avoid scheduling conflicts.
Event Coordination and Support
- Attend and oversee all team meetings and briefings during the event.
- Ensure athletes adhere to competition regulations and timelines.
- Act as a liaison between Ontario athletes and event organizers to address on-site needs or concerns.
Travel Coordination
- Assist athletes and coaches with travel arrangements if required.
- Ensure all team members are informed of travel reimbursements and guidelines.
Crisis Management
- Be prepared to handle unforeseen issues such as athlete injuries, equipment problems, or other logistical concerns during the event.
- Communicate effectively with event organizers and team staff to resolve challenges promptly.
Post-Event Reporting
- Provide a brief report to the Ontario Weightlifting Association on team performance, challenges, and recommendations for future improvement.
Social Media
- Work with the Social Media team to help promote Team Ontario.
Travel and Event Details
Event: Canadian Senior National Championships
Dates: May 15-18,2025
Location: Alberta
Travel Costs: Fully covered for the Team Leader, including transportation, and accommodation.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in leadership or team management roles, preferably within sports.
- Strong understanding of weightlifting rules and competitive structures.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Preferably NCCP Qualification, but not necessary
- Experience as a participant at a National Championships.
- A Clear police report
- Preferably first aid/CPR certification
