Our Purpose
The Seniors Connect Group is a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive community where seniors can socialize, participate in activities, and build meaningful connections.
This program is made possible through the efforts of volunteers, community partners, donations, and grant funding. To ensure everyone has a positive experience, all participants are expected to follow these guidelines.
Expectations for Participants
All members are expected to:
- Treat fellow participants, volunteers, and guests with kindness, courtesy, and respect.
- Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.
- Be patient and understanding, recognizing that the program is volunteer-led.
- Respect differing opinions, backgrounds, and abilities.
- Follow any instructions provided by volunteers or program leaders.
- Use program resources, supplies, food, and materials responsibly.
Sharing Food, Crafts, and Supplies
Many of the items provided through the Seniors Connect Group are donated or funded through grants and are intended to benefit all participants.
To ensure fairness:
- Food, craft supplies, and program materials must be shared equally.
- Participants should only take the amount designated for the activity or event.
- Supplies and materials are intended for use during the program unless otherwise stated.
- Participants should not take additional items for others without permission from a volunteer or program leader.
Respectful Behaviour
The following behaviours are not acceptable:
- Bullying, harassment, or intimidation.
- Rude, aggressive, or disrespectful language.
- Repeatedly interrupting or disrupting activities.
- Making unreasonable demands of volunteers or participants.
- Taking more than a fair share of food, supplies, or materials.
- Creating conflict or an unwelcoming environment for others.
Volunteers and Program Leaders
Our volunteers donate their time to support this program. Participants are expected to treat volunteers with respect and understand that decisions made by volunteers and program leaders are intended to support the wellbeing of the entire group.
Addressing Concerns
If concerns arise regarding a participant's behaviour:
- A volunteer or program leader may have a private conversation with the participant.
- Continued concerns may result in a written warning or meeting with program leadership.
- If behaviour continues to negatively affect the group, participation may be temporarily suspended.
- Serious or repeated violations may result in removal from the Seniors Connect Group.
Any decisions regarding suspension or removal will be made fairly and with consideration for the wellbeing of all participants.
