PCS is a non-profit (501c3) community center delivering squash, wellness, and education in Portland, ME. We seek to unite neighbors of all ages and backgrounds and to fully support youth on their journeys from elementary school into adulthood. We believe that a commitment to access, equity, and integration makes every community stronger.
Because of COVID-19, we are not offering clinics or Saturday afternoons currently. Please fill the form below if you are interested in getting your 3rd/4th/5th grader involved this year.
Every Saturday afternoon from 2:00-3:00pm during the academic year, Portland Community Squash hosts open court time for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to practice the sport of squash in a non-competitive environment with similarly-aged peers; this group of youth serves as our "Farm Team" for the Middle School Junior Squash League. The open court time is free and open to non-PCS members. No formal coaching or instruction is offered; occasionally, we will have middle school/high school players or staff hop on court to help out, depending on availability.
*Parent/Guardian or Sibling/Cousin/Relative (must be older than 13 years) must accompany the child for the entire session - this person MUST BE PHYSICALLY PRESENT inside the building of Portland Community Squash; you are not permitted to drop off your child and leave them here. Failure to comply with this rule will result in being prohibited from future sessions.
*Depending on staffing, we might be able to offer transportation/supervision on a sporadic basis for families who do not have access to reliable transportation or who cannot be present to supervise their child; please inquire with Kelsey Goodwin (413-884-2867 or firstname.lastname@example.org) to learn more about this option.
*Racquets, goggles, and court shoes are available to borrow; no snacks are provided on Saturdays.
*The Farm Team runs on most Saturdays, but is cancelled every once in a while due to other matches and tournaments. Please be aware of the schedule, found here (scroll down to bottom of page for calendar)
