Hen Rehoming Application Logo
  • Hen Rehoming Application

  • We will shortly be arranging our next rescue date. Please feel free to submit an application, and we will reach out to you as soon as we have a date!

Please note : completing this application does NOT guarantee that we will accept you. We will be in touch shortly with any further questions and to confirm your application.

  • We strongly reccommend that hens are adopted in pairs or groups of 3 as a minimum. This is to avoid loneliness and help with integration into another flock

  • Your details

  • (please take care when entering your email address - if it is wrong we cannot respond and you will not hear from us!)

  • Collection

Collection is from our Sanctuary near Wells, Somerset. We will be in touch with more information including full directions and a time-slot
  • Your home

Hens need as much space as you are feasibly able to offer them. They are social animals, and the more space they have, the easier they can conduct normal happy hen behaviours and socialisation. Small spaces breed boredom, stress and poor hygiene. Please bear this in mind when considering how many hens you can adopt, and your plans for the future. The current MINIMUM recommendations are: one hen per square metre in their outside run (with some time to free range outside each day), 25cm of perch space each and 30cm of floor space inside the hen house each.
  • Please be aware that the Avian Flu outbreak is now happening once again, and there are some recommended biosecurty measures to follow.

    HEALTH and WELLBEING

Ex-commerical hens are often prone to illness and weakness, due to the immense strain they are put under in the farms, and the way in which they are bred. With love and care, they can live long and happy lives, and they are ABSOLUTELY deserving of being given this chance.

If you experience any health concerns whilst caring for your hens, or would like some advice for extra TLC to help them recuperate to happy and healthy hens, please reach out. We are always here to offer support.

If you're new to caring for hens, and would like some guidance, please visit our website here and download our Hen Care guide for a small donation.

  • Thank you for applying to offer a home to some beautiful rescue hens.

We take the rehoming process very seriously, and work hard to ensure that our hens go to homes where they will be given the love and respect they deserve.

If you are successful, we will be in touch shortly with details on donation and collection.

We ask for a minimum £3 per hen donation, to help us cover the costs of the rescue. Any left over goes straight towards the care of our rescue animals here at the sanctuary, and to help us save more lives.

    Thank you
