Participation is a core value of our community. There are so many ways in which to do this at PEX Summer Festival and one of those ways is by Volunteering for teams and activities that help build our community and run this festival! We value your time as a GIFT, and we want to help you find a volunteer activity that will strengthen your ties to our community.
As a PEX Summer Festival Volunteer, you are a part of the PEX Posse! We hope and expect that all Volunteers actively understand and uphold the core PEX commitments and values of respectful community, responsible and positive living, and FUN.
Any amount of time dedicated to helping PEX have its BEST YEAR EVER is appreciated and truly builds our community of doers—we simply ask you fill out this form so we can better match you with a role that suits your individual skill set. However, if you wish to enroll in the Work Exchange Program (WEP) of volunteering for a reimbursed event ticket, there are a few requirements to consider.
Requirements for Work Exchange Volunteers
The PEX Posse LOVES dedicated doers, especially those who truly help us put together, put on, and take a part in this annual celebration, and the Work Exchange Program rewards volunteers who complete at least 17 hours of volunteering (includes 1 hour of orientation) with reimbursing the person’s ticket cost.
While we are happy to work with people’s schedules to get as many people involved as possible, positions on the WEP volunteer team are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis according to PEX’s needs for Setup, During Festival, and Breakdown — Preference will be given to volunteers who can come for all of Setup, all of Breakdown, or who can work part of Setup/Breakdown and During the Festival.
: Starts Tuesday before the festival and goes through Thursday night, plus a super duper parking shift on Friday morning. Volunteers who come in for Setup will be expected to be available for the entire day they committed to working and are on site. Preference will be given to volunteers who can commit to Tuesday through Thursday/Friday setup.
: Shifts during the event are largely limited to Baristas, Lifeguards, Rangers, First Aid, and Sanctuary - all of which require some level of experience. Additional help on Effigy Build, Hospitality Services, and whatever other needs arise are also available. Preference will be given to applicants who also can work Breakdown or a few days of Setup.
: Breakdown begins Sunday night and continues until the last box truck is loaded on Monday and accounts for a bulk majority of hours required for the WEP volunteera - though you will need to volunteer for a quick shift during or before the festival to complete your hours.
Tickets must be purchased prior to the event as a deposit, and we require the purchase confirmation code is sent to us before the festival begins. The face value of the ticket will be refunded to you after the full completion of your shifts and duties (This does not include fees from Flavorus). We typically reimburse you within 2 weeks after the event.
If you do not complete your volunteer requirements, you will forfeit your ticket and the deposit will not be returned.
Requirements for ALL PEX Posse Volunteers
Both Work Exchange Volunteers and General Volunteers (those not getting reimbursed) are requested to fill out a Volunteer Application so that we may contact you about scheduling your volunteer shifts.
All volunteers are required to purchase a ticket to PEX Summer Fest independently of the Volunteer Department. If you need an invitation code to purchase a ticket, please indicate so on your application and one will be sent. (Remember to check your spam folders, and social and promotions tabs in Gmail!)
If you think you have what it takes to join our team of dedicated artists, thinkers, workers, and creators, please complete the Volunteer Application by May 15th. We have limited spots available and will be accepting work exchange volunteers on a rolling basis so fill out your applications ASAP!
