Pittsburgh Scholar House's Program is tailored specifically to aid single parents who are dedicated to their academic success while balancing the crucial role of parenthood. By submitting this application, you are initiating the preliminary eligibility process to receive a voucher, designed exclusively to help single parent students secure a unit at Pittsburgh Scholar House.

Please Note: Completion of this application is required to begin the eligibility process to receive a housing voucher for a supportive housing program dedicated to providing affordable housing and socially supportive services to low-income single parent students seeking to earn a degree. Completion of the application is not a guarantee of housing. Income restrictions and other program eligibility requirements apply.

In order to qualify for residency in the Pittsburgh Scholar House Housing Program, you must meet all of the following criteria:
1. Be a single parent with primary custody of children under the age of 18
2. Have earned a high school diploma or GED
3. Be currently enrolled part-time or full-time in a degree-granting program.
4. Have at least one year of study left before graduating with or earning your degree.
5. Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better
6. Meet income eligibility guidelines for a housing voucher through the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh
7. Be willing to undergo the application and verification process as required and conducted by the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh, including a criminal background check
8. Be willing to sign a Program Agreement that outlines the roles and responsibilities of participating in the Pittsburgh Scholar House Housing Program.

Final decisions regarding housing placements are based on meeting the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh's housing voucher guidelines, the availability of units, adherence to program-specific eligibility requirements, and the completion of all required documentation. Documentation needed:
- Social Security Numbers for all members of the Household
- The date of birth for all members of the Household
- The sex of all members of the Household (used to determine bedroom size)
- Documentation of all income earned or received by the household on a regular basis.
  - Income includes wages from employment, self-employment, contract work, unemployment compensation, payments from Social Security, public assistance payments, child support payments, and regular cash contributions from third parties
- An unofficial transcript from your school/college/university.
- A copy of your current or forthcoming semesterly class schedule.
- Documentation of High School Graduation or proof that you have earned a GED

Student Eligibility for Housing Voucher Assistance

Select whether any of the criteria listed below applies to your family. If any one of the criteria apply, your family may be eligible for housing voucher assistance.

1. The student head-of-household is at least 24 years of age by December 31, 2024.2. The student head-of-household is married3. The student head-of-household has one or more legal dependents other than a spouse (for example, dependent children or an elderly dependent parent/relative in the head-of-household's care).4. The student head-of-household was an emancipated minor or in a legal guardianship as determined by the appropriate court of law?5. The student head-of-household is veteran or is currently serving on active duty in the US Armed Forces?6. Is the student head-of-household a graduate or professional student.7. Is the student head-of-household an unaccompanied youth who is homeless, at risk of being homeless, and/or is self-supporting as determined by a) a local educational agency homeless liaison; b) the Director of a Homeless Assistance Program; c) A financial aid administrator; or d) a financial aid administrator who has determined that the student head of household is independent by reason of unusual circumstance?8. The student head-of-household has filed taxes on their own9. The student head-of-household provided certification of the amount of financial assistance that will be provided by their parents.

Subject to certain exceptions, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requires a student to provide it's college or university with written consent before it discloses personally identifiable information (“PII”) from the student’s education records to a third-party, such as Pittsburgh Scholar House. This includes requests to release or discuss PII to or with a parent, attorney or other representative. The written consent must specify the record(s) to be released; state the purpose of the disclosure; and identify the person(s) to whom disclosure may be made. A record of any written authorizations given will be maintained in the education record. In order to authorize your college or university to release PII from your education records, you must complete all fields listed on this form, sign and date it..
