The Power of Girls experience is designed to intentionally foster independence by encouraging the young women in our program to harness the power of their own thoughts, skills and talents, unencumbered by interference from the influence of others, whether that be parents, teachers, friends, older siblings or others. Our programming is based on proven social science that illustrates that young women exposed to these sorts of opportunities are far more successful at navigating challenging environments than their peers who might not otherwise benefit from an experience like this. It is our hope that through the programming offered by The Power of Girls that the young women in our cohorts can experience the freedom of exploring the power of their own agency within the framework of our program. Excessive influence and interference by parents or others can be disruptive to the objectives of our program, ultimately resulting in a much less successful outcome for our participants.
