We bring the tiles, racks, cards, and fun — you leave knowing the basics (and with Raleigh Mahj goodies in hand).

No experience needed — just grab a seat and let’s get our mahj on!

Mahjong for Beginners – $75 per person
If you’ve never played or only know a little, this 101-style class is made just for you. In two hours, you’ll learn everything you need to start playing American Mahjong — from the game’s origins and tile recognition to using the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card and understanding how a game flows.

Our typical ratio is 6 students to 1 teacher — small enough for personal attention, but big enough for lively play. Learners often tell us it’s helpful to “double up” as they’re getting started, so this group size strikes the right balance.

We provide everything: tiles, racks, cards, mats, plus take-home learning materials and fun Raleigh Mahj merch. Join us at partner locations across the Triangle for a beginner-friendly class near you.
