About the International Day of Peace
The United Nations established the International Day of Peace in 1981 as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among nations and peoples. Observed every year on 21 September, it is a global call to cease violence, foster understanding, and build a culture of compassion and cooperation. This year reminds us that peace begins with each of us — in our communities, in our actions, and in how we choose to walk together.
