The Rescue House, Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization dedicated to assisting cats through its rescue, foster and adoption activities. We find loving homes for unwanted, abandoned, homeless, and disadvantaged cats. We open our arms to socialized, people-friendly cats that need assistance, regardless of age and often regardless of handicap. Good homes are found for every cat that we take in- we are a true no-kill cat rescue organization. We have rescued over 20,000 cats since our inception in 1999!

We ALWAYS need volunteers. Please consider how you would like to help (volunteers need to be at least 18 years of age). Fill out and submit this application and our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you so you can get started helping our furry friends.
Here are just some of the main ways you can assist The Rescue House and our special kitties. Please check the box next to those areas of interest to you:
Adoption Center Visits-Visit the cats in one of our Adoption Centers and ensure they are comfortable and well-cared for. Your time with the kitties is spent taking care of their food, water, litter and cleanliness needs, as well as loving them, playing with them, exercising them, etc. Your visits would occur at the same Adoption Center on a regularly scheduled basis once a week (or more). We encourage at least a 6 month commitment. You may also be asked if you would like to help at special Adoption Events.

Kitty Transportation-Transport the cats from vet to vet, from vet to adoption center, between adoption centers, etc. This is on an as-needed basis - when a kitty needs to be chauffeured, we would ask if you can help.Fundraising-Our fundraising committee focuses on ways we can raise money to help even more special kitties. Some of these include planning and organizing fundraising activities, creating and writing a periodic newsletter, researching and preparing grant requests, selling special items, writing or talking to people and businesses that might be able to donate funds to The Rescue House, Inc., etc.Adoption Events- Help us during our adoption events, held on weekends at least once per month. There are many different ways in which you can assist at these events- set up and tear down, transporting cats, cat care during the event, introducing people to our special kitties during the event, helping with education and facilitating adoptions, etc.Administrative Assistance-We need help with computer based work. This can be done from your home. Administrative work may include organizing, record keeping, and researching.Social Media/Marketing- Help create content and materials to promote adoptable cats, fundraising campaigns, adoption events, and bring attention to the life saving work that we do.

I understand that The Rescue House Inc.'s animals are the property of the organization and that I am not permitted to sell, adopt out, give away, “hold”, or promise ownership or possession of such animals without express authorization from The Rescue House management. If any of these animals are in my personal care, they must be promptly returned to the organization upon request.
I understand that The Rescue House, Inc. will not compensate me for any injury or illness sustained in volunteering, and will not provide nor reimburse me for any medical care received.
I fully understand that as a part of my volunteer services for The Rescue House, Inc., I will come into contact with animals either by directly handling them or through assisting in their care and adoption. Further, I understand that working with animals carries a risk of injury, and that it is possible that I may be bitten, scratched, and/or otherwise injured. My signature to this volunteer liability release attests to my assumption of these risks and all other types of risks, and I agree to hold harmless, release and indemnify from all liability The Rescue House, Inc., Petco, Petco Foundation, PetSmart, PetSmart Charities, The Cat Café, Cat and Craft, and the owners/operators of any location where I provide volunteer services, as well as the officers, directors, shareholders, owners, employees, volunteers, agents and assigns of any of the foregoing, from liability for all acts and omissions related to my volunteer activities with The Rescue House. I understand that my agreement to this Release of Liability is a condition of and consideration for my being accepted as a volunteer for The Rescue House, Inc.
