  • What We're All About: For 15 years, Ditch the Beach, Dig the Grass has brought players from across Florida together for a full day of grass volleyball, from the first serve at 8 a.m. to the championship under the lights. The tournament has never been about profit. Every dollar goes back to the community. This year, proceeds support Josh Cothron, one of our own from the volleyball community, in his recovery, along with the ministries of Restoration Fellowship.

    • Our Story: Ditch the Beach, Dig the Grass started in November, 15 years ago, with fewer than 8 teams. It has always been hosted at Restoration Fellowship Church, and it has grown into a community staple that draws players from across the state and spectators from all over the area.
    • The Tradition: Every year falls on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It's a 4-person tournament with 30 to 40 teams, plus spectators, over a 14-hour day of music, competition, and night matches under the lights.
    • Who We're Playing For: In July 2025, Josh Cothron, a local volleyball player and longtime part of this community, was severely injured in a vehicle accident. Half of this year's proceeds go directly toward his recovery. The other half supports Restoration Fellowship's ministry work, including its feeding programs, serving families right here at home.
