  • TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    1. A $200 Retainer is required to secure the Celebrant’s availability on the service date and time. The Retainer paid is deducted from the Package Fee, and is non-refundable under any circumstances. Once the Retainer is paid, Rev. Kim is booked in for the date and time of the ceremony or service.
    2. Travel Fees are calculated at $2 per mile of distance only between the Celebrant’s residence and the Ceremony or Service Venue’s address. The Travel Fee is applied per day of travel.
    3. Payment of the balance of the package fee is preferred fourteen (14) days, and due a minimum of twenty four (24) hours, before the Ceremony/Service date, and is payable by cheque, credit card or online through PayPal. If the Client wishes to pay by cash on the Ceremony/Service Day, this arrangement must be agreed upon at time of Contract.
    4. Payment of the balance, in Cash only, may be made up to fifteen (15) minutes before the Ceremony/Service begins. Cheques and Credit Cards are not acceptable forms of payment of the Balance or Package Fee on the Ceremony/Service Day. Failure to pay the balance fifteen (15) minutes prior to the agreed Start Time will cause the Celebrant to leave and not perform the Ceremony/Service for reasons of non-payment, and all use of the Ceremony/Service script(s) by the Client is forfeit.
    5. Please note that returned cheques or NSF will incur an additional Returned Cheque Fee of $35 per item.
    6. If the Ceremony/Service Date and/or Start Time should change, the Client agrees to inform the Celebrant at the earliest opportunity, and if the Celebrant has availability for the new date and/or time, they will move the Ceremony/Service. If the Celebrant is not available on the new date and/or start time, they will provide an alternative celebrant if an associate is available. If the Celebrant or associate celebrants have no availability for the new date and/or start time, then the Client is free to obtain another celebrant, but the Retainer is non-refundable, and refunds of any Balance Paid follows as per Section 9.
    7. The Ceremony/Service Start Time is the time the Client wishes the Ceremony/Service to begin. The Celebrant agrees to be at the Service site a minimum of fifteen (15) minutes before the ceremony is scheduled to begin for Pet Blessing/Funeral and House Blessing/Cleansing Packages, and thirty (30) minutes for Baby Blessings or Funeral/Memorial Packages. The Celebrant will remain on site for a maximum of one hundred and twenty (120) minutes after the scheduled Ceremony/Service start time for Funeral Packages, ninety (90) minutes for Baby Blessings, and sixty (60) minutes for Pet Blessing/Funeral and House Blessing/Cleansing Packages. Should the Client require the Celebrant to remain on site, a fee of $50 per fifteen (15) minutes applies, payable by cash or credit card.
    8. Acts of God or events beyond control, including but not limited to, extreme weather conditions, hurricane, tornado, flood, tsunami, earthquake, volcanic eruption, fire, epidemic, pandemic, acts of terrorism or civil unrest, government closure or mandate, that result in the cancellation or extreme delay of the Ceremony/Service on the Date will be eligible for a refund of 25% of any Balance Paid if the Ceremony/Service is not rescheduled for a date or time the Celebrant is available. If no Balance has been paid, no further Payment or Cancellation Fee is due in this circumstance. If the event is rescheduled for a date the Celebrant is available, the Retainer will apply to the new date, as well as any Balance paid, however there may be an adjustment in some fees, for example, if the venue is different to the originally booked venue or requires travel outside the Celebrant's service area.
    9. If the Celebrant is unable to perform the Ceremony/Service on selected Date due to unforeseen circumstances, such as illness or accident, natural disaster or breakdown of transportation, they will use their best efforts to find another celebrant available on the Date who will faithfully perform the Ceremony/Service as agreed, but will have no other liability. In the event of the Celebrant not being able to perform the ceremony and find a replacement Officiant despite best effort, the Client is free to use the Ceremony/Service script provided by Rev. Kim Tavendale and obtain a replacement themselves, and a refund of 25% of the Balance Paid (the Package Fee minus the non-refundable Retainer) will be given.
    10. All clients, attendees, guests, service providers, and vendors will be expected to conduct themselves in a legal, responsible and respectful manner. Unacceptable adult behavior includes intimidation, verbal or physical threats, screaming directed at a person, fighting, throwing of objects, use of obscene profanity, intoxication, disorderly or illegal conduct, or violence or behaviour that poses a threat to the safety of any person. This type of behaviour may, at the Celebrant's discretion: (A) Be cause for immediate cancellation of the Ceremony/Service and forfeiture of any and all retainers and fees paid, and/or (B) Incur an additional fee, relative to the duration of the behavior, calculated at $20.00 per minute, payable in cash, before the ceremony is performed or completed, and will be considered as fair compensation for `Hazardous Duty'.
    11. In the event the Celebrant must cancel the Ceremony/Service due to an excessive delay in start time or bad behavior, the Client's use of the Ceremony/Service script and the Celebrant's services is forfeit, and no refund of any fees paid will be given.
    12. In case of inclement weather, such as rain, snow, sleet, hail, lightning, excessive wind, or extreme heat or cold, the Celebrant may, at their discretion, shorten the Ceremony/Service in order to complete the formalities and avoid weather issues. If the Ceremony/Service needs to be moved indoors or to another location, the Celebrant will try to resume the Ceremony/Service at a natural point and complete the Ceremony/Service to fit in the available time.
    13. The Celebrant will, at all times, endeavour to provide the utmost professional service to the Client for their Ceremony/Service. The Celebrant is not liable for any errors or omissions that may occur during the Ceremony/Service, or for any damages as a result beyond the amount of the Balance Paid.
