• SPORTS SHOOTER ACADEMY 17

    March 4-8, 2020 | Los Angeles, Calif.
  • GOT MARCH MADNESS?

    Sports Shooter Academy 17 does!

The Sports Shooter Academy is the ultimate sports photography experience giving participants the opportunity to cover a variety of real events under the guidance of a faculty of award-winning photojournalists.

Sports Shooter Academy 17 participants will have the unique opportunity to cover the excitement of college basketball post-season --- AKA March Madness. Azusa Pacific University and the Pacific West Conference have agreed to give the workshop photographers access to the conference’s post-season tournament. The PacWest Tournament will determine their representatives to the NCAA Division II National Basketball Championship Tournament. Workshop photographers will cover the PacWest Tournament just like a wire service, shooting, editing and posting images on-site live for the conference and the schools. You will also have the opportunity to cover college baseball, softball, tennis and water polo as well as rugby, horse racing at historic Santa Anita Park, sessions at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center and portraits at a local boxing gym.

After each shooting day, workshop participants will edit their work and receive one-on-one critiques from the workshop instructors. There will be several seminars devoted to field editing, installing and shooting with remote cameras and business practices.

Whether you're looking to improve your photography to capture better peak action images at youth and high school sports or aspire to cover major college and professional sports, this workshop is the place to learn and grow. The motto of the Sports Shooter Academy is: See Better. Shoot Better.

Sports Shooter Academy Alums have gone on to work for major publications, wire services and agencies. Currently workshop alums are working for several professional sports teams, major college athletic departments and international sports federations. During the 2019 Major League Baseball season, workshop alums were shooting for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Houston Astros and the Cincinnati Reds. Alums are currently working for Notre Dame University, the University of San Francisco, Cal, UCLA, USC, Liberty University, USA Water Polo, Getty Images, USA TODAY-Sports Images and the Associated Press.

Sports Shooter Academy Alums have won numerous awards including Pictures of the Year International and the National Press Photographers Association Newspaper Photographer of the Year and Sports Photographer of the Year.

The Sports Shooter Academy is not only about learning at the workshop but being inspired by each other. The connections and friendships you make at the workshop will be lasting, personal and helpful throughout your photography career.

Nikon Professional Services, Samy's Camera, Think Tank Photo, PhotoShelter and PocketWizard are supporting the Sports Shooter Academy's effort to educate, enlighten and inspire photographers and students.
