    Stage 1 of 4.
  • Before you begin

Baptisms at St John's are on the first and third Sundays of the month at 12 noon.

There are four elements to the application process.

    1. First complete this Enquiry form (at least 3 months before) to choose your preferred date of baptism (below).
    2. Then complete the Belonging Course (online).
    3. Attend a Baptism Preparation Meeting. Details below.
    4. Then you can complete the second form, the actual Application for Baptism - at least 3 weeks before the scheduled baptism.

Parents purchase and complete a compulsory online course to prepare for baptism, called Belonging (Ascension Press with Fr Mike Schmitz).
This must be completed before booking for a baptism.
You need a copy of the certificate (which you will receive after completing the course) to complete the application form.

Use this form to 'date claim'
Allow enough time to complete all 4 steps.

After completing the Belonging Course, you can apply for the baptism.
The date for your child's baptism is only confirmed after you complete all 4 steps.
Only after completing all 4 steps is your application complete.

Complete the form using Initial caps (not ALL CAPS or lowercase)

  • About your child

  •  - -
  • If your child is school-aged, you will need to make an appointment with one of the priests so that he can meet both you and your child. The liturgy for an older child is a little different then that for a baby or younger child, and the candidate is much more involved.

If your child is in primary or high school, you should make sure that you complete the Belonging Course as a family with your child and partner.

A copy of the liturgy is available here.

Please print a copy or save it to your device so that you can refer to it during the baptism. Your child will still need to wear something significantly white, and bring a candle.
