Robb Stein is an entrepreneur and business leader who has spent more than two decades building companies and investing in real estate. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, he developed a lasting connection to the city and its residents. Over the years, his professional work has been closely tied to the community, and he has remained active in supporting local causes through volunteer service, charitable donations, and nonprofit leadership roles. His career reflects a steady focus on business growth while also contributing to organizations that strengthen the region.
Role in Automotive Retail
A significant part of his professional career has been within the automotive industry. Robb is the principal owner of the Cincinnati Byrider location, which is part of a nationwide dealership network that sells inspected and reconditioned vehicles. The dealership also offers in-house financing programs designed to help customers establish or rebuild their credit. By reporting payment activity to the major credit bureaus, the program offers customers a path to improve their financial standing while gaining access to reliable transportation. Across the United States, more than one million people have relied on Byrider as their dealership of choice.
Business Leadership and Strategy
In addition to his role in automotive retail, Robert Stein serves as President of Derojo, Inc., a Cincinnati-based company that operates across several industries. The organization owns and manages auto dealerships, subprime finance companies, a real estate development group, and a reinsurance company. The company often looks for businesses operating in niche markets that may benefit from additional investment or operational restructuring. Through careful planning and management changes, the goal is to improve business performance and create long-term stability.
Another important responsibility involves financial risk management. Stein serves as Chairman of Card Sound Reinsurance Group, which focuses on specialized insurance exposures that can produce higher returns under favorable tax conditions. This role reflects his involvement in broader financial ventures beyond the automotive sector.
Automotive Financing and Customer Access
He also leads another key company within the automotive industry. Robert Stein, of Cincinnati, is the President and owner of Alford Motors, Inc., recognized as the largest subprime auto dealer group. The company combines vehicle sales with financing programs designed for customers who may not qualify for loans from traditional banks or lenders. By offering both sales and financing in one place, the business provides practical transportation options for individuals who are working to rebuild their credit.
Longstanding Commitment to Community Service
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Robb Stein has remained actively involved in philanthropic and community activities in Cincinnati. For nearly a decade, he served on the Board of Directors of the StarShine Hospice program at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The program provides palliative care for children and young adults with limited life expectancy, helping families receive support and comfort during difficult moments.
He also served on the board of Living Arrangements for the Developmentally Disabled (LADD) for four years. The organization supports adults with developmental disabilities by helping them live independently while building meaningful connections through employment and training opportunities.
Volunteer Leadership and Civic Engagement
His volunteer work also includes long-term involvement with the American Heart Association. He began volunteering with the organization in 2001 and later helped establish its Young Professional committee. In addition, he created the Heart Ball after-party and served as its chair, helping expand fundraising activities that support heart health research and public awareness.
Robb also played an important role in Fall Feast Cincinnati, serving as a former co-chair and member of its steering committee for more than a decade. The annual Thanksgiving event gathers more than a thousand volunteers to serve meals and distribute coats to thousands of people in need across the city. The event also provides access to healthcare services and other support resources.
Education and Personal Interests
Robb Stein earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. Outside of work and community service, he enjoys golf, skiing, boating, and outdoor activities. He has also participated in endurance challenges, including completing the 29029 Everesting Challenge in Jackson Hole and later summiting Mount Rainier. Through both business leadership and civic engagement, Robb Stein remains connected to the community where he was raised and built his career.
