ROLES
Page Designer: Working under the Section Editor or other Editorial Board member, design assigned pages, take photographs, write stories and/or captions and meet deadlines. Market and sell commercial and personal advertising space.
Photographer: Take quality photographs for the section to which you are assigned, organize and edit photos using PhotoShop, work with team members to determine photography strategy for each page, understand and use digital cameras (preferable if you have your own) and take responsibility to ensure quality photos are taken at each event
Section Editor*: Juniors and Seniors ONLY Retain ultimate responsibility for all pages in your section. Manage staff to meet all deadlines and provide guidance in page design, copy and photography.
Photography Editor*: Juniors and Seniors ONLY Manage photographers to ensure coverage at all events, approve all photos before printing, guide and mentor photographers on shooting and editing images. Plan, shoot and edit key photographic features including division pages, end sheets and senior superlatives.
Copy Editor*: Juniors and Seniors ONLY Work with team members to strategize, write and edit copy, captions and headlines. Requires adherence to Athlon style guide, AP style and general grammar and language rules.
Creative Director*: Juniors and Seniors ONLY Working with leadership team, drive production of all key features including division pages, end sheets and senior superlatives. Requires creative abilities including knowledge of PhotoShop and skill in taking ideas from brainstorm to page.
Managing Editor*: Juniors and Seniors ONLY Create and monitor master production schedule, manage leadership team meetings and manage class when needed. Requires attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
*These positions comprise the Yearbook Leadership Team (YLT): Develop theme, colors, fonts and layout design, and ensure staff adheres to stated yearbook rules. Responsible for overall quality of production, including review of each page before submission to printer. Meet as a group with Ms. Hunt every Tuesday after school.
