A virtual option will be provided for our Sunday, Monday & Tuesday sessions. Please note that if you choose the virtual option, your student will be assigned a lesson at the beginning of each week and will be given an assignment that will be due by Friday of each week. They will have a week to complete this.
Monday & Tuesday PSR Sessions:
Parents are the first catechists of their children. PSR is here to assist parents and families with the catechesis of students. PSR is a weekly class of 1 hour and 15 minutes. Knowing we are here to assist parents and students, we want to stress the importance of your student's prompt, respectful, and weekly attendance to each class, family prayer, and families attending weekly Mass together. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith and the greatest gift given to the Church, Jesus himself.
Absences & Makeup Sessions:
Attendance will be taken at each session. Because we now offer a virtual option we will no longer offer our Family Catechesis Sessions which were provided for parents to attend with their student(s) in the event their child may have missed or was absent for a class lesson(s).
Late Drop off & Early pickups are strongly discouraged:
Our 75-minute class each week is instructional time and the disruptions of late drop-offs and early pick-ups eat away at the short time we have. In the past, students were dropped off in the Weseman Center promptly for the Monday and Tuesday sessions. Due to COVID-19, we will no longer meet as a large assembly but rather report directly to our classrooms. This is subject to change.
Communication Tools:
- We will provide a private Facebook group to our PSR community where updates and information will be shared. You can find the link to our Facebook group by clicking here: www.facebook.com/groups/stanselmpsr/
Our parish has a variety of applications to use to stay in touch with our parish and PSR programs such as Facebook, ConstantContact, myParish app, and our parish website.
Family Catechesis | Fulfilling the Requirement
In the past, PSR has offered Family Catechesis as a makeup option for students that may have missed a lesson. Because we now offer a virtual session, we will no longer offer this event. Instead, students will be able to make up the lesson each week. When the catechist has signed off on the completed missed lessons, the student's absence on the attendance sheet will be updated to "excused".
Drop Off & Pick Up:
Just before the start of PSR, the contact parent will be sent an email with each student's classroom location and catechist name. For your convenience, please see our map in the link portion of our website and locate your student's classroom before the first day of class.
- NO PARKING or PULLING UP TO DROP OFF STUDENTS in areas marked with ORANGE CONES.
- Please use courtesy and safety towards all.
- NO cellphone use in parking lots - this is a Louisiana State Law.
- DO NOT let students walk unattended through the parking lots
- Park only in an actual parking space and walk your student to their assigned class.
- Safe Environment is in effect. You may not enter or remain in any building after dropping off.
- A parent or adult must pick up their student at dismissal from the classroom. Students will not be allowed to walk to cars in parking lots or parked in the street.
- If you need to speak to your student's Catechist, please arrange a separate meeting time to allow for class dismissal and the next session catechist to begin setting up for the next class.
Discipline or Discipleship?
Our goal is to provide a Christ-centered positive learning environment for all the students. We must work together in developing good behavior habits and positive attitudes towards our Roman Catholic faith. All students are expected to follow the PSR guidelines.
- By their presence in our program, we know you consider their participation in the program important to you and your family. PSR class does not take place or is a substitute for attending Mass weekly.
- We hope to instill in your student(s) pride and respect for themselves as Roman Catholics and Christians in today's society and your St. Anselm family.
Student Conduct:
Any student who becomes disruptive during class and then refuses to heed the Catechists warning to correct his/her behavior will be directed to see Dustin Dauzat. A call will be given informing the parent of inappropriate behavior. Any further occurrences will require a direction from the Pastor and/or DRE.
On-Campus & Classroom Behavior:
- Be courteous, considerate, and respectful of others.
- Be cooperative and participate in class and prayer.
- Dress Code: Dress appropriately, no short skirts, short shorts, revealing tops, or offensive clothing.
- Cell phones must be turned off and put away during class time.
Safe Environment:
- We are committed to providing a Safe Environment and educating children, youth, and adults about preventing child abuse. Preventing child abuse is our main concern for these Safe Environment Guidelines.
- Safe Environment is in effect and our buildings are on lock during PSR sessions. During class times, our buildings are closed to those who do not have safe environment training.
