Many older adults in our community live on a fixed income, often relying solely on Social Security. While they want to remain in their homes, they face daily challenges such as maintaining their households, preparing meals, managing medications, and attending to personal care. These difficulties, coupled with the high risk of falls, can threaten their independence and safety.
Unfortunately, the cost of traditional in-home caregiving is often beyond their reach. That’s where SCHAS stands apart. Through our Equitable Access Care Program, SCHAS is the only caregiving organization in East Tennessee that bases the cost of the service on the client's net income. If they cannot afford the full fee rate, we make arrangement for them to be on a sudisized rate and SCHAS covers the rest of the cost. By providing affordable, income-based care, we help ensure that those experiencing the greatest financial hardship can continue to live safely at home.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, grants, fundraisers, and the United Way, SCHAS is able to deliver compassionate care to those who need it most. Your support makes it possible for vulnerable adults to age in place with dignity, comfort, and peace of mind.
