Eligible individuals are dependent children of active duty, reserve, national guard, or retired US military personnel that will be enrolled in a full- or part-time accredited degree program for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year.
Requirements and Restrictions:
- High School Application: Applicants must be a current high school or home school student graduating during the 2025-26 school year.
- All applicants must be applying for or currently enrolled in a degree or certification program through an accredited college, university or technical school within the United States. Online programs are allowed through accredited schools. Note: Students enrolled in dual enrollment via their high school should still apply using the high school application.
- The military sponsor of the applicant must be active duty, reserve, national guard or retired from a component of the US military.
- Military service members and/or retirees may not apply for this scholarship.
- The applicant's military sponsor must reside within a 50-mile radius of Fort Benning. You can request an exception to this rule if the sponsor is geographically separated due to military orders where dependants are not athorized to move with their sponsor. A copy of the Sponsor's military orders must be provided in this scenario. Please reach out to scholarship@fortbenningcsc.org prior to submitting your application for more details.
- The sponsor or their spouse must be a current member of the Fort Benning Spouses Club. This helps verify eligibility. The membership year runs from 1 June 2025 - 31 May 2026, and costs $30 for a full year. Starting 1 January, 2026, you can purchase a half year membership for $15. Participation in club events is not required. Please CLICK HERE to join if needed.
- Individuals who are attending a service academy are not eligible for this scholarship award.
Scholarship instructions:
- Scholarships are based on a holistic assessment of the applicant based on their transcript, activities, essay, and letter of recommendation. Race, color, sex, national origin, unit/branch affiliation, financial need, etcetera will not influence this selection. Identifying information will be redacted.
- It is important that you provide ALL of the requested information on the scholarship application to be considered. (Even 1 missing item means your application will NOT be considered.)
- Applications must be submitted by 10 February 2026 at midnight EST. Late applications will not be accepted. (Please note - applications are due earlier than prior years)
- Decisions and notifications will be made on or around 22 April 2026. All individuals will be notified of award status via email. Please respond to your award email no later than 30 days after notification. The awards ceremony will be held 03 May 2026 on Fort Benning.
- All notifications are made via email. Please ensure you put an accurate email and CHECK YOUR EMAIL. Military Dependent ID will be checked at the award ceremony to verify eligibility, or prior to mailing your check if you won't be in attendance.
- All checks are made payable directly to your college institution for tax purposes. Checks are good for 180 days. All checks should be cashed by your institution no later than 1 October 2026.
- IF YOU ARE NOT ACCEPTED to a College/Degree Program/University By October 1, 2026 for the Fall 2026 Semester after receiving a FMSC scholarship, the scholarship will be forfeited and returned to our scholarship fund.
