About the project:
“Common Sense” Youth Organization is vastly experienced in the field of environment & healthy well-being and actively conducts workshops and summer camps for school children in Sumgait city. The organization has 15 years of experience in the organization of summer camps for school children and cooperates with over 20 schools in the city. We will carry out activities considering that 2024 is the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" in Azerbaijan and The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will be held in Baku.
Our goal together Sumgait city Municilaply to launch a team volunteering project in Sumgait city is to empower young volunteers to take actions towards a better environment, to actively participate in the local society, to enhance their professional & personal skills, and to raise awareness on environmental issues & healthy well-being between young people & school children through the formation of green thinking and enhancement of civic responsibility.
The main tasks of the volunteers will be:
- Organization of group works, presentations, energizers, and activities on environmental topics for school students (grades 6-7-8);
- Having skills such as planting trees, caring for plants, planting flowers in pots, etc.;
- To actively participate in planting trees outdoors together with the municipality;
- Painting on the wall in public places, parks, and having street art and graffiti skills;
- Skills for making wooden bird nests, cat and dog shelters in the park area;
- Implementation of various painting and drawing works on pots, animal nests; shelters and etc;
Accommodation and travel costs are fully covered by the project budget as follows:
- Travel costs will be covered according to the distance calculation of the EU
- Visa support and cost will be provided
- Volunteers will get pocket money in the amount of 120 eur and food money in the amount of 150 eur
- Accommodation is provided either in private buildings or family houses. Accommodation will have all the basic facilities
- Insurance is covered by the European Solidarity Corps (Henner Insurance)
- We will provide some amount for local transportation cost and bicycles will be available

Profile of Participants:
- 18 and 30 years old young people
- Enthusiastic, active, with some experience in the field of environment and healthy well-being, or strongly motivated to learn.
- Motivation and experience to work with school children and organization of workshops
- Motivation to organize and live in a camp setting for 5-days
- Should be interested in providing non-formal education and organization of cultural events
- Able to communicate in English, therefore, speaking and understanding the English language is important.
- To share the values of our organization: transcultural, inclusive, anti-discriminative approach, and open-minded to cultural differences.
- Should be open-minded and respectful towards other cultures as there will be other volunteers coming from different cultural backgrounds
