Christmas Connection: Collection Drive Sign Up

Sharing Tree is dedicated to strengthening communities by providing low-income
families throughout central Oklahoma with a dignified, no-cost shopping experience.
Christmas Connection, our founding program, has a 40-year legacy of providing new
toys and coats so that every child has the opportunity for a joyful Christmas morning.

Many parents/guardians simply can’t afford Christmas gifts or warm winter clothing for their children, but Sharing Tree believes no family should be deprived of Christmas
morning memories. Christmas Connection provides an opportunity for
parents/guardians to escape their difficult circumstances and pick out gifts and needed items for everyone in the home. In addition to new toys and coats, we provide winter clothing and accessories, books, and Christmas décor. All items are donated by the community, the store is primarily staffed and stocked by volunteers, and clients are referred by one of our 80+ partner agencies.

The most unique feature of the Christmas Connection program is that the parent or
guardian comes into our welcoming, retail-like environment and personally selects
items in each department, maintaining the dignity that comes with choice and
providing for their family. Whether the gifts are from Santa, Mom, and Dad, or
Grandma, our goal is not to be the recognized provider, but simply the vehicle that
makes Christmas morning happen.

How can you help?

We rely on the help of local community partners to help us collect some of our most-needed items to stock our shelves in the Christmas Connection store. By hosting a toy, coat, or H.U.G.S. drive your group can share joy with neighbors in need in Central Oklahoma.
What sets hosting a drive for Christmas Connection apart is that all items donated stay in your community. They will not be sent to other organizations in other states or countries. These items are collected locally and are distributed local. This is caring for the community your group is located in and spreading Chrsitmas cheer to the children being raised around you. You will also be invited to be part of the shopping days as a volunteer. You can help parents shop during our Christmas Connection shopping days and see your impact firsthand.

All collection drive hosts will be recognized on Sharing Tree's website and social media platforms.

How many boxes do you anticipate needing?

Sharing Tree is a full-time staff of just two individuals. Please keep in mind that it is a HUGE benefit to us when someone can come to pick up a collection box from us.

We ask that toy donations be dropped off at Sharing Tree AS CLOSE TO December 1 as possible. We have very limited capacity for toy pick-up as our staff and volunteers are prioritizing helping Christmas shoppers in December. Our last day of shopping will be December 14, 2022. Any donations picked up or dropped off after that date will be utilized for Christmas Connection 2023.

Each collection box costs Sharing Tree roughly $10 to purchase. Donations to offset the cost of collection boxes would be appreciated, but are not necessary.
