Thank you for taking the time to apply as one of our volunteers for our Steps for Safety event on Saturday, September 19th, 2026 at Sunnidale Park in Barrie and Sportsplex in Bracebridge! Volunteers will play a vital role in the success of the event.
Below is a brief overview of the volunteer roles available:
🔹 Route Greeters (8 volunteers)
You’ll be paired up and stationed along the walking path to cheer on participants and keep the energy high with your enthusiasm and friendly spirit.
🔹 Set-Up Crew (All - multiple shifts)
Help prepare the event space by placing signage, setting up the registration table, arranging lawn games, assisting vendors, and more. Some lifting may be required (carts and dollies will be available).
🔹 Tear-Down Crew
Assist with post-event cleanup, loading vehicles, and ensuring nothing is left behind.
🔹 Check-In/Registration (4 volunteers)
Welcome participants as they arrive, assist with check-in, distribute shirts, collect waivers, and provide event information.
🔹 Food Prep/Service (4 volunteers)
Support food preparation and cooking before lunchtime, and assist with food service as needed.
🔹 Welcome Greeters (4 volunteers)
Be the first friendly face participants see! Greet guests with warmth and enthusiasm as they arrive.
🔹 Rest Stop Hosts (2–4 volunteers)
Stationed at the rest stop, you’ll hand out snacks and drinks to participants as they pass by.
🔹 Fire Attendants (2 volunteers)
Set up and monitor the bonfire throughout the event, ensuring it remains safe and well-maintained. You’ll also help with cleanup of this area afterward.
🔹 First Aid Crew (2–4 volunteers)
We’re looking for 2–4 volunteers with valid First Aid certification to assist with any minor injuries during the event.

While no formal training is required, each team will meet with their Team Lead before the event to review responsibilities and have the opportunity to ask questions.
We’ll do our best to assign you to your preferred role(s) and will let you know if any adjustments are needed. Rest assured, we’ll make sure you’re comfortable with your assignment.
We also welcome high school students who are completing their 40 hours of community volunteering.
