Scholarship Information & Criteria

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce's Scholarship Committee will award a number of scholarships for an amount to be determined by the Board of Directors each calendar year in the fall. The committee will select the winners based on the merits of the applicant.

A total of Two (2) $1,000 High School Senior Scholarships will be awarded by the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce.

All scholarships must be claimed or deferred within 6 months of Award Letter Date. Award letters are mailed in early May. Deferrals are good for one year. Before the one year deferral comes to an end, the scholarship recipient must contact the Chamber to request the allotment. After the one year deferral, if no contact is made with the Chamber, the scholarship will be deemed forfeited. The Scholarship will ONLY be paid to the institution and awarded after proof of full-time registration is submitted to the Soldotna Chamber for the school year.

Scholarship recipients will be selected in late April. Winners will be contacted by email. Recipients will be asked to attend Soldotna Chamber's Membership Luncheon on Wednesday, May 12th, 2021, for the Scholarship Awards Reception at Soldotna Regional Sports Complex at noon.

THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES WILL BE USED:
- A minimum GPA of 2.5
- Student must be a permanent resident of the Kenai Peninsula at the time of application and graduating from a Soldotna area High School.
- Preference may be given to students continuing their education for a major in business or marketing/communications.
- A personal interview may be conducted with qualifying applicants
- Preference may be given to students planning to return to Alaska, if leaving the state to pursue a post-secondary education.
STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT:
- Completed Soldotna Chamber Scholarship Application
- Copy of your High School Transcript
- A Letter of Recommendation from a teacher (additional letters are welcome)
- A Letter of Recommendation from a member of the community (not a relative)
- Essay on the following topic: “What ambitions and future goals are you working toward beyond your education and what are you doing to meet those goals?”

Applications may be turned into your high school counselor or submit this form online to theSoldotna Chamber of Commerce. Partial applications will not be considered. Please submit all items together.
