By purchasing a SOUL FLARE fire sun wheel you acknowledge that any injury you may cause yourself or others by using it is your own full responsibility as a professional & educated fire artist.
It is not recommended that you light this prop on fire if you are new to either fire spinning OR sun wheel spinning. If you choose to spin this prop on fire, you do so at your own risk.
Below are a list of safety guidlines specific to this prop, and by signing this form you are agreeing to follow each one and take the use of this prop very seriously for the safety of yourself and others.
PRACTICE
Before incorporating fire, it is of the upmost importance that you practice spinning your fire sun wheel until you are able to flow for long periods of time without making mistakes or tangling the prop. The burn time typically ranges from 2-3 minutes.
CLOTHING
It is important that you are wearing a full coverage, fire safe outfit when spinning this prop. The steel cable and chains may become very hot when spinning and your skin needs to be protected from these materials to prevent burns. 100% cotton or natural fiber fabrics are highly recommended.
EQUIPMENT
Always check your prop before spinning. Make sure the bar of your fire sun wheel is securely installed in place and will not open while you are spinning. It is recommended that you store your fire sun wheel with the power bank removed from the bar so that this connection remains secure over time. The use of electrical tape around the bar opening is recommended for added security when spinning fire.
FUEL
The use of white gas is recommended for fuel.
When dipping in fuel, gather all the wicks in a bundle by holding the technora ropes together in one hand. Dip the tight group of wicks in a large enough fuel container that allows for all wicks to be submerged all at once. Only dip up to the top of the wick where the chain begins and be careful to not get fuel on the technora rope or it could catch fire when spinning.
Wicks can also be fueled by spreading the sun wheel out and using a baster to saturate each wick with fuel individually.
Make sure your fuel containers are tightly sealed in an airtight container and stored far away from your performance area.
SPINOFF
Always spin off your prop in an isolated area seperate from your performance area before lighting the fueled prop on fire. This will prevent fuel from flying off of your fire sun wheel while spinning, which could cause injury to you or your audience.
LIGHTING
To light the prop after spinning off, gather all the wicks together in a group by holding the strands of technora together with your hand, and have your fire saftey assistant light the bundle of wicks with a lighter. Once the wicks are lit, begin spinning the prop immediately so as to not melt the technora rope.
SAFETY ASSIST
Always have an attentive and professional fire safety assistant watching you closely when you spin. This person should also have a duvetine/fire blanket or damp 100% cotton towel on hand. A CO2 fire extinguisher is highly recommended for emergencies.
CONTROL
If you happen to make a mistake or lose control of the prop while it is on fire, it's imperative that you KEEP THE PROP SPINNING so that the wicks remain away from your body. If the prop is above your head and you stop movement abruptly or completely, you will be surrounded by flames. No matter what, keep the prop spinning until you are able to make a safe exit and have your fire safety assistant come help you extinguish the prop.
EXTINGUISH
It is recommended that you spin your fire sun wheel until the wicks are no longer on fire, typically about 2-3 minutes. Ending your performance in wheel plane is the safest way to bring the prop to a slow stop in front of you after the wicks have gone out.
If you must extinguish your fire sun wheel, you can do so by bringing the prop to a slow stop while in front of you, twisting the wheel the opposite direction to gather the technora ropes together with your hand, then placing the bundle of wicks onto a large duvetine on the ground while your fire safety assistant helps smother the wicks with the duvetine. Keep smothering the wicks until the prop is no longer on fire.
Metal elements may remain hot to the touch after the prop is extinguished, so proceed with caution.
