SUBCOMMITTEES
The festival planning committee is broken down into six main sub-committees, each headed by a committee chair who has been involved with planning the festival for at least one year. You don’t need to be a pro at anything! Past experience is considered in committee selection and placement, but we want to help you grow and learn in areas you are interested in contributing to.
Development Team:
- The Development Team is responsible for helping secure the financial and in-kind support necessary to bring the festival to life. This includes cultivating relationships with donors, sponsors, brand partners, and identifying speaking opportunities that enhance the festival's visibility. This includes ensuring hospitality needs are met for artists during the festival week. This team also supports grant funding endeavors, from research and application to oversight.
Can you convince a unicorn to sponsor a festival just by giving it a glittery high-five? Are you so stellar at securing donations that even your pet goldfish wants to chip in? Are you so charming that even ATMs give you extra cash out of sheer delight?
If you’re ready to charm the socks off donors, turn glittery high-fives into sponsorships, and have goldfish throwing cash at you, then the Development Team is calling your name!
Communications Team:
- The Communications Team focuses on supporting the artists and team through effective communication, including offering support to artists and helping facilitate collaboration. The communications team is responsible for identifying opportunities to improve inclusivity and accessibility, collaborating with the marketing team to ensure inclusive language across platforms, and collaborating with the production team on safety and awareness training presentations.
Are you a master of pep talks, mediation, and delivering constructive feedback with a smile? Do you believe that “communication is key” and that key opens all the doors? Do you love digging into feedback like it’s the juiciest gossip of the year?!
If you can turn a frown into a fist bump, make every message shine like a diamond, and love the thrill of feedback as much as reality TV drama, then join the Communications Team and make every conversation count!
Creative Team:
- The Creative Team is responsible for shaping and maintaining the Sunny Dayz brand through all visual and design elements, including festival banners, flyers, pamphlets, social media graphics, and merchandise. Also housed under this is the website and web shop, email campaign, social media channels, PR, and the documentation of programs, events, and festival activities through photography and videography.
Can you make a festival flyer so eye-catching that even squirrels stop to read it? Are you the kind of marketing genius who can turn a potato into a festival influencer? Do you dream in hashtags, wake up thinking about SEO, and have a sixth sense for knowing exactly when to drop the perfect email campaign?!
If your design skills could stop traffic (or at least make squirrels do a double-take), and you think turning potatoes into influencers is just another Wednesday, the Creative Team needs your magic touch!
Production Team:
- The Production Team is responsible for the logistics that make the festival run smoothly. This includes permitting, site mapping, volunteer coordination, vendor and stage management, and ensuring all necessary services are booked. This team is also responsible for designing and installing festival signage and pathfinding, merchandise displays and installations, and ensuring all sites are left in better condition than they were found.
Do you secretly dream of coordinating a symphony… of logistical perfection? Are you the friend who always knows where the spare batteries, first-aid kit, and extra snacks are? Can you map out a site so perfectly that even lost tourists send you thank-you cards?!
If you thrive on organizing the un-organizable, dream of logistics that flow like a Beyoncé concert, and think site maps should come with fan clubs, then step into the spotlight with the Production Team!
Programs Team:
- The Programs Team is responsible for fostering community leading up to the festival and planning events such as: panel series and workshops, fundraising opportunities such as raffles, restaurant % nights, ticketed dinners, merchandise launches, and facilitating engagement with SDMF alumni. This also includes Sunny Week events such as: the sponsor & artist appreciation night, team and artist dinner, and after party. :)
Do you love throwing epic parties? Do you secretly dream of becoming a mastermind behind the most talked-about social events in town? Can you turn a random Tuesday into a "Must-Attend Event of the Year" with just a few emails and a lot of charm?!
If you’re the person who believes every day is a party waiting to happen, loves to turn simple meet-ups into social extravaganzas, and can make any day feel like New Year’s Eve, then Programs Team is your playground!
Mentorship Team:
- The Mentorship Team is responsible for maintaining and developing the festival’s existing youth mentorship program and works to expand it by planning events such as the Mentorship Brunch during Sunny Week.
Do you love the idea of helping others become the superheroes of their own stories? Are you a retired camp counselor? Can you spot potential in people the way some folks spot four-leaf clovers?!
If you believe in helping others find their inner superheroes, have a knack for spotting talent like a talent scout on a treasure hunt, and can make mentoring feel like a fun adventure, the Mentorship Team needs your enthusiasm!
