Producing a show choir show is a major undertaking that requires significant financial resources. Families will soon be asked to indicate the financial contribution they are able to make toward this year’s Happiness season.
No student will be excluded from participation due to financial limitations.
We do need accurate information in order to build a responsible and realistic budget. When the time comes, we ask only for an honest estimate of what your family can contribute. We will use that information—along with fundraising, concert ticket sales, and community donations—to plan the year.
For reference, the average cost per singer in recent seasons has been approximately $725. We expect that number to rise this year due to increased expenses. This amount covers essentials such as:
Costumes and props
Music arrangements
Professional choreography and show design
Competition registration and transportation
Equipment purchase and repair
In addition, students will have the option to purchase group apparel (e.g., T-shirts, jackets). Families should also budget for meals on competition days.
Travel Update
This is supposed to be a travel year for Happiness. Although our original plan to attend a Nashville competition is no longer viable due to a scheduling conflict, we are exploring an out-of-state competition the last weekend of February. The cost for this trip would be in addition to the regular group cost indicated above. As part of that process, we will be asking families for feedback on two things:
- A trip price range that feels manageable.
- How much students would be willing to fundraise to help offset that cost.
Your transparency and input are essential as we make decisions that balance opportunity, access, and affordability for every member of the group.
