CRAFT RAVE APPLICATION

I'm so excited! Craft Rave is now running successfully in the Comox Valley (Vancouver Island, Canada). I first heard about it on Instagram - a Craft Rave party in Toronto! A friend sent me an Instagram reel and I KNEW INSTANTLY that I wanted to host these. My husband Tony is my partner in this and helps me with all of my events.

What is a Craft Rave?
Here is a simple description that I put on the new FB Page:

Craft Rave exists to make creativity accessible, social, and fun. We blend crafting, music, and various rave music styles into a welcoming space that supports Crafters, Artists, DJs, invites creative collaboration, and celebrates community and self-expression in all its forms.

We are still in the very beginning stages of building this, so our description may change over time.

Our volunteers are called Vibe Guides.

A Vibe Guide is someone who is willing to help with setup, tear down, decorate, box office, etc. Our hope is to pay our Vibe Guides an honorarium if the event is successful.

All planning will take place here and you can always leave once your part is done, although we often look for input and feel this is a community-led event. Craft Rave happens every month, 1 month is during the day (Saturday usually 11am-3pm) and is an all-ages event and the other one is an evening event going from 8pm to late (about 12am) and is an 18+ event. Which event would you like to be part of? Vendors are not expected to stay beyond 11pm or longer than 3 hours. Vibe Guides can do shifts!

Tech / space Requirements: DJs, what kind of gear do you have and / or we can arrange to rent the gear you need. Although we have a small budget. If you have a Rider please use the file upload option below. Crafter Demo / Vendors, if you need power, approximately how much? How much space (usually it's a designated space but just in case let us know) ***If you need anything else, let us know 😁 we'll do our best to have it there for you. Vibe Guides just put N/A.

Everyone: Share your full links (with the http please) to Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, YouTube, Soundcloud, Mixcloud etc. Please add your website if you have one also. You must have at least one social media link or website so we can learn more about you, tag you or invite you to collaborate. We hope to see this event on at least one of your profiles. DJs: at least one social media link, plus a link to your mixes or to a mix that would most represent what you'll be playing for Craft Rave (or a link to a mix in dropbox or google drive). If you are just doing a craft demo or have supplies and sharing skills, it’s free. If you are vending, we will be asking for a $25 fee for our daytime event and $45 for the evening event. Vending? We ask that if you make over $300, you offer 10% of your sales to help us build Craft Rave (pay venue, posters, ads, DJs, Vibe Guides, supplies, etc. It all helps). We aim to pay everyone involved, and we would love to create merch as well. We will do everything we can to pack the house for you. If this is a barrier, please choose the option "other" and we can make other arrangements. We cannot guarantee that you will have sales. If you are not selling anything or you don't have a business related to what you are demoing, then you do not have to pay anything. ✨

DJs - what is your usual fee? Since this is a very new and community orientated event we may not be able to match your fee… for our evening events we offer the DJ $125 or 20% of the door sales profit - whatever is better. Because our daytime events are by donation and we don’t turn anyone away, we offer $50 or 25% of the door profit sales. Vibe Guides, if we have a very successful event we will share an honorarium with you but this not guaranteed.

How did you hear about Craft Rave?

Are you aware that there will be lighting effects and loud electronic dance music playing? That indeed this about crafting, but this also about actual rave culture which can be loud and highly stimulating. We are doing our best to create guidlines around perfume and scents - but we can't promise there won't be some smells ;/
