  • Welcome to The Jane Stern Dorado Community Library! We are a community-based nonprofit organization that offers educational programming, a library, and information access services.

    Our Conversational Spanish class for adults focuses on enhancing speaking and listening skills through interactive activities. Students participate in role-playing, group discussions, and listening exercises to practice real-life conversations. The goal is to improve fluency, expand vocabulary and basic grammar, and foster an appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures in a supportive and engaging environment.

  • GENERAL INFORMATION

    Requirements: 

    • Complete the application and submit the required documentation (if applicable).
    • Participants must be 21 years or older.

    Program: 

    • Date:  The start date is Tuesday, February 10, 2026. 
    • Time: Two times a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
    • Where: Jane Stern Library; 331 Méndez Vigo, Luis Muñoz Marín Government Center, Dorado, Puerto Rico

    Participant Guidelines

    These rules are intended to create an environment of respect among participants and library staff, as well as to ensure safety and the effective use of class time and program activities. Participants are expected to follow the instructions of staff and instructors in charge.

    We appreciate your support in helping everyone enjoy a positive and enriching educational experience.


    Class Information

    • Dates: Starting on February 10, 2026.
    • Schedule: Upon arrival, please check in at the front desk. Classes will begin promptly every Tuesday and Thursday, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
    • Dress Code: Participants and accompanying adults should not wear exceedingly short pants, skirts, or dresses, nor shirts with low necklines.
    • Accompanying adults: Adults accompanying participants may use the computer and reading areas; however, they are not allowed in the classroom. Children under 13 are not permitted to accompany participants.
    • Belongings: All personal items are the responsibility of the participant. The use of electronic devices during class should be avoided to ensure better focus and participation.


    Food, Medication, and Health Conditions

    • A snack will be provided for participants. If a special diet and/or food restrictions are required, please inform the staff.
    • Any relevant medical conditions must be notified to the staff.
    • Participants showing symptoms of illness will not be allowed to attend. If a participant becomes ill during class, the emergency contact will be notified immediately upon the participant’s request.
    • Library staff are not authorized to administer medication.


    Membership

    • As a class requirement, each participant must obtain or renew their library membership. For adults, an annual donation of $10.00 is requested. Certified teachers may request membership with a $5.00 yearly donation.
    • Membership includes book loans, access to the library’s digital book catalog, and other educational digital resources.

    Conduct and Respect

    • Library staff are well-trained and committed to providing quality service. Participants are expected to maintain a respectful attitude toward all involved.
    • Participants must follow the instructions given by staff and instructors.

     
    Disciplinary Measures

    • Disrespect toward staff or fellow participants will not be tolerated and may result in immediate suspension.
    • Failure to follow instructions, three consecutive unexcused absences, or lack of active participation may also result in suspension.
    • Physical aggression or the use of obscene language or gestures will result in immediate expulsion from the educational programs.

  • PERMISSION: USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS

  • I authorize The Jane Stern Dorado Community Library (JSDCL) to document our educational programs and activities through photographs and/or videos in which I may appear. The audiovisual material may be used for educational, promotional, and dissemination purposes of JSDCL services, including, but not limited to, its official website and social media. I understand and agree that JSDCL is not responsible for any photographs and videos that may be captured by other attendees, including family members of participants, during the activity.

  • RELEASE OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • I release The Jane Stern Dorado Community Library, as well as its directors, employees, volunteers, teachers, and/or agents of the program sponsoring entities, from any claim, damage, or injury that may arise from my participation in class.

    However, this release of liability will not affect my right to receive appropriate compensation benefits for accidents occurring on the premises of the aforementioned entities.
