About Danforth-Main Laneway Connection
The Danforth-Main Laneway Connection project will make improvements to three laneways along Danforth East — running to the north and south of Main Street Station and to the south of Coleman Park — to increase around-the-clock safety, improve visibility and navigability, and create permeable and people-friendly edges with the neighbouring walkways and park.
Site analysis and project master planning will take place through winter and spring 2021, with installation planned for September and October.

About The Laneway Project
The Laneway Project is an independent, not-for-profit social enterprise, and Ontario’s leading expert in laneway revitalization. Over the past six years we’ve worked collaboratively with Toronto City Councillors, City staff, developers, BIAs, residents and neighbourhood civil-society organizations in over 30 neighbourhoods to transform neglected local laneways into people-friendly community places.
Site Analysis and Master Planning
To get started, we need to understand the space — and no-one knows it better than locals and neighbours. Please fill out the following Site Analysis and Master Planning Survey to share your insights and observations about your local laneway today.

Laneway Improvements - Plants
Laneways are not often thought of as green spaces, but it’s possible to introduce nature by adding planter gardens filled with native plants along the edges of neighbouring properties, between building walls or fences and the edge of the laneway right-of-way. This can do a lot to make the laneway feel more comfortable and is great for local biodiversity.
Laneway Improvements - Art
Laneways are often drab and visually unappealing, but can be brightened with public art that adds beauty and culture to the walls and garage doors lining the space.
Laneway Improvements - Lighting
Laneways are sometimes dark and unwelcoming at night. Adding more lighting can improve visibility to help make the space feel safer and discourage risky activities.
Thanks for your insights!
Expect to hear back from us in the coming weeks and months as we turn your input into a master plan of improvements for the space.
