FALL 2024: Purposeful Play Tinkergarten

PURPOSEFUL PLAY TINKERGARTEN is an after-school enrichment program that gets kids learning through nature exploration. This fall, our lessons help kids develop focus. The curriculum is designed to help kids hone the symphony of skills we use to direct, shift, and sustain our attention, all through playful exploration of nature.

Throughout the series, we'll leverage the inherently captivating natural world to teach kids building blocks of focus, including: how to feel grounded in the moment; how to zoom in and zoom out; how to wonder; and how to follow our interests.

Location: Fulton Academy of Science and Technology
Classes take place outside (inside for bad weather)

Students: Kindergarten-3rd Grade

Dates: Thursdays, August 29 - November 21 (no class 10/31)

Time: 3:35-4:45pm

Cost: $240 for the whole semester; pro-rated for late starts and drop-in classes available. 10% sibling discount.

What is Tinkergarten?
Tinkergarten gets kids learning outside. Kids who participate get the physical and mental benefits of increased time outdoors and build a lasting connection to nature. They also develop a strong foundation in essential skills that kids need to become creative, caring, and confident people who can thrive in a dynamic world.

Lynda Sharp has been leading Tinkergarten classes in local parks & green spaces for over 8 years. Marion Boyd is passionate about outdoor learning and a former member of the the FAST teaching staff.

Step 4: Waiver & Class Policies & Payment
Cancellation Policy

AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Refunds will be given, minus a $20 processing fee, up to one week before the program begins. Alternatively, a credit can be issued for the full amount of the program and be used toward a future program within one year.

No refunds will be issued for cancellation less than one week before the start of the program, early withdrawal, scheduling conflicts, illness, or behavioral dismissal. No refunds will be issued in the event the school cancels school or after-school activities due to weather or other circumstances – the missed class will be rescheduled or a credit will be issued. Refunds will NOT be provided without one week prior notice or for no-shows.

We like to use pictures of the kids in action with the materials and activities as a way to document the play and learning that happens in class and share it with the community on our social media.
