ENCN offers psychiatric nurse practitioner students an educational experience that is tailored to meet the needs of their academic requirements for the program in which they are enrolled. The students will have the ability to refine their skills and strengthen their knowledge as student nurse practitioners in the clinical setting. Under the guidance of a preceptor, the student will gain sufficient knowledge of the nurse practitioner in practice.
The student will primarily focus on psychiatric assessment, neurological exam, diagnosis, psychotherapy, medication education, and patient safety across the lifespan. The students will receive mental health awareness education (i.e. suicide prevention, psychiatric emergencies of adults and children, identification of trauma/abuse, geriatric implications, grief, and end of life preparation). Community-based mental health initiatives such as lifestyle modifications, immunization, and medication outreach for the homeless, mindfulness education, and relaxation techniques will also be provided within the preceptorship program. The curriculum will further encompass several learning modalities such as lectures, seminars, and workshops tailored to meet the needs of the student’s academic program.
In addition, ENCN offers students essential networking and consulting guidance, the chance to enroll in global leadership programs, retreat opportunities, job internship, career development and growth, business consulting for nurses, nursing visa sponsorship, and employment through agencies.
