Active membership in the FDG is contingent upon payment of a membership fee, providing contact information, and identifying which course they prefer. Annual membership dues are set by the Board and the annual membership period coincides with the AGM held annually in January.
Membership dues shall be used for the growth of the FDG and expenses as listed herein.
Membership may be revoked or suspended by a majority of the Board of Directors for conduct that reflects negatively on the FDG or the Board members, including but not limited to violent, obscene, or harmful behaviour, or for non-payment of money owed to the FDG.
Failure to maintain upstanding conduct including but not limited to: intentional damage to park property, littering, excessive foul language, demonstrative rage, violation of park rules, violation of FDG bylaws, etc. will be reviewed by the Board. A three (3) strike warning system will be implemented, leading to the expulsion of said member(s) from the FDG. Warnings will be issued by the Board.
Members are responsible for their own safety and wellbeing at any FDG-sponsored events. Members will participate in club events at their own risk and will never be required to attend any event they do not wish to participate in due to safety concerns. Safety hazards will be reviewed by the Board and corrective action is taken when necessary.
All Members have the right to attend or not attend FDG functions (unless a Member is specifically required to attend the said function as required by these Bylaws). All members are highly encouraged to attend FDG meetings, volunteer at FDG events and functions, and promote disc golf in a positive manner.
Privileges of membership:
- The right to vote in FDG elections
- The right to be a member of a committee or to hold office in the FDG
- The responsibility of assisting with functions where applicable and able
- Non-members and non-active members shall have none of the privileges of Members
- An invitation to play in the year-end club championship
- Additional benefits/discounts as they are made available.
Membership shall not be denied to any individual based on race, religion, sex, ethnicity, age, dialect, physical or mental disabilities, or level of disc golf ability.
General membership shall be open to all individuals who pay the initiation fees and/or annual dues as required by the FDG and agree to act in accordance with these bylaws.
Membership shall run from January 1 through December 31. Memberships may be taken as early as October 1 of the prior year and be effective for the remaining portion of that year and the following year.
Upon payment of annual dues, members will receive a bag tag as proof of membership. Replacement tags are available at a nominal fee to cover costs.
