Statement of Faith - Twin Lakes Camp

There is so much teaching in the Bible, all of which is important. This statement of faith is a short version of the truths we hold to and the doctrine we think will be beneficial for our board, staff, and summer team to be unified behind. Our hope is that the statement brings unity to our team and inspires worship of our God.

    GOD

We believe in one God who alone is worthy of our worship.  He is the Creator, eternally existing in three persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Scripture provides a literal and historical account of God creating all things in six days.

    JESUS CHRIST

We believe Jesus Christ is fully and truly God and fully and truly man, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins as a substitutionary sacrifice, was raised from the dead, ascended to heaven and will return in person, power and glory.

    HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin and draws us to Christ.  He indwells all believers, helping us become like Christ, serve the church and share the gospel.  The gifts called “sign gifts” have ceased and are not for today.

    THE BIBLE

We believe God has revealed Himself to us through the Old and New Testaments.  All Scripture is verbally inspired by God, inerrant in the original writings and our supreme and final authority for faith and life.

    HUMANITY

We believe all people are created in God’s image, male and female, and matter deeply to Him.  God instituted marriage as a gift to be enjoyed for His glory, in a monogamous and heterosexual relationship.  Apart from Jesus Christ, all people are spiritually lost and, because all are sinful in nature and deed, deserve the judgment of God.

    SALVATION

We believe salvation is a gift from God given to anyone who trusts in Jesus Christ and in His sacrifice on his or her behalf.  Salvation cannot be earned through personal goodness or human effort.  It is a gift that must be received by humble repentance and faith in Christ and His finished work on the cross.

    RESURRECTION

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people, the saved to life forever with God in the New Heaven and New Earth, and the lost to eternal separation from God in hell.

    THE CHURCH

We believe in the universal church composed of all true believers, united as the “body of Christ”.  The local church is a congregation of baptized believers who gather for worship, prayer, instruction, encouragement, mutual accountability and community with each other as they fulfill the mission of making disciples of all nations.

    GUIDING ETHIC

We believe the love of Jesus Christ towards all people, and especially Christians, is to be our guiding ethic in all that we do.
