The Untitled Space invites artists to apply for a Solo Exhibition to take place at the gallery in Tribeca, New York in 2025. One selected artist will be awarded a solo exhibition that will be presented as an in-person solo show at the gallery on Lispenard Street located in the Tribeca Arts District of New York City. The solo exhibition will be supported by an online exclusive of the exhibition on Artsy, as well as special coverage of the exhibition on a variety of media outlets including The Untitled Magazine among others. The exhibition will be promoted online on the gallery's websites, on our social media channels, and on a variety of publishing platforms. The opportunity includes an Artsy Exclusive Solo Show for the runner-up. All artists who submit will be considered for future opportunities with The Untitled Space gallery, including group shows and special projects.

The Untitled Space is looking for an artist with an exceptional body of work for this unique opportunity. Artists who submit may also be considered for future opportunities with The Untitled Space gallery such as art fairs, group shows, online solo shows, and exclusives. 

Artists should have an established exhibition track record and/or educational focus in studio art. The exhibit proposal should include new work to premiere with the exhibition. All proposals must include an artist biography, cv, artist statement, images for each submitted artwork as well as any other relevant information.

Submissions are open to all artists, both national and international.
All ages, genders, and visual mediums will be considered.

EXHIBITION DATES: 2025
The Untitled Space will coordinate with the artist for the best timing of their exhibition. The exhibition will be curated by gallery director Indira Cesarine, who will work directly with the artist to select the final artwork for the exhibition. The gallery will host a reception for the artist, as well as post the exhibition on Artsy as well as other sites to promote the artwork. Expenses including the opening reception, exhibition marketing and staffing, as well as of course the gallery venue will be provided by The Untitled Space. All details will be finalized directly with the artist to ensure the best possible experience for the gallery and artist to have a successful exhibition. A number of virtual activations will also be implemented to promote the exhibition.

The gallery space available for the exhibition includes approximately 1400 sq ft including over 110ft of linear wall space for hanging artwork, as well as a number of accessories including pedestals, a projector, and monitors for digital display.

The Untitled Space is an art gallery located in Tribeca, New York in a landmark building on Lispenard Street. Founded in 2015 by Indira Cesarine, the gallery features an ongoing curation of exhibits of emerging and established contemporary artists exploring conceptual framework and boundary-pushing ideology through mediums of painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, video, and performance art. The gallery is committing to exploring new ideas vis-à-vis traditional and new mediums and highlights a program of women in art.

Since launching in 2015, The Untitled Space has presented over 50 exhibitions by more than 500 artists. Exhibitions include solo shows for artists Sarah Maple, Rebecca Leveille, Alison Jackson, Fahren Feingold, Jessica Lichtenstein, Philip A. Robinson Jr., Tom Smith, Loren Erdrich, Kat Toronto aka Miss Meatface, Katie Commodore, Giulia Grillo aka Petite Doll, Jeanette Hayes, Tabitha Whitley, Grace Graupe-Pillard and Robin Tewes, as well as group shows "REBEL," “INNOVATE,” “UNRAVELED: Confronting The Fabric of Fiber Art,” “Art4Equality x Life, Liberty & The Pursuit of Happiness” public art exhibition and group show presented in collaboration with Save Art Space, “BODY BEAUTIFUL,” “IRL: Investigating Reality,” Special Projects “EDEN” and “(HOTEL) XX” at SPRING/BREAK Art Show; ”SECRET GARDEN,” “SHE INSPIRES,” and internationally-celebrated group shows “UPRISE/ANGRY WOMEN” and “ONE YEAR OF RESISTANCE,” as well as numerous other critically-acclaimed exhibitions.

• Submissions are open to all artists, both national and international, working in all visual mediums.
• An application is required for all artists to be considered. No exceptions.
• We do not accept walk-ins or any unsolicited artwork shipped by mail.
• Artists should have a strong exhibition track record and/or educational focus in studio art.
• Works can be figurative or abstract and of any medium. 
• Proposals should ideally contain some new work that will premiere with the exhibition.
• Artists may submit a minimum of 5 artworks and up to a maximum of 10 digital images of artwork (jpeg format) for the proposal review fee of $50 USD. This may also include renderings of proposed works to be created for the exhibition, although the majority of works should be existing, completed works. Up to 3 videos may be submitted.
• Additional Artwork Images may be submitted for an extra fee of $10 USD per artwork up to a maximum of 15 artwork images. 
• Artwork image sizes must be minimum 1000 pixels - maximum 2000 pixels JPEGS (only). Maximum file size: 1MB 
• Each jpeg must be titled with “Artist Name–Title of Artwork–Year”
• Each submission of work or series of works must include a description of the art and mediums used, as well as a short statement on the subject of inspiration for the art.
• If artworks are framed please note frame dimensions and upload photo with framing in the "alternative view" area for the artwork.
• All submissions must include your artist biography, artist statement, a description of the art submitted as well as basic info for each work including title, year created, medium, dimensions, suggested price, and edition size + number if relevant.
• Any fragile, oversized (larger than 72"), overweight (more than 50lbs) or works requiring special installation may require the artist to be present for installation. 
• All transportation of works is the responsibility of the artist, and works requiring any special stands or pedestals may require the artist to provide.
• If your work requires a pedestal or any special stands, you must note that in the description of the artwork. 
• Submissions should ideally include a photo of the artist that can be used for the promotion of the exhibit if selected. A portrait with artwork is preferred. 
• Works submitted must be available for exhibition and for sale. Artists receive 50% commission on sales. Consignment terms run through the exhibit of the show at the gallery as well as for 90 days after the gallery exhibit closing in order to follow up with collectors and for the online exhibition of works on Artsy unless agreed otherwise.
• The selected artist will also have the option of gallery representation, although this is not required. 
• Submitting your work does not guarantee an exhibition.
• Please do not contact the gallery to follow up with your application unless you have problems submitting the form. 
• Once submitted you will receive a confirmation email of your application. If you do not receive this please contact us. 
• Artists will be notified by March 31, 2025. 

ARTWORK SUBMISSION

Provide more info on your artwork for consideration below. Artists may submit a minimum of 5 images and up to a maximum of 10 artwork images for the $50 Solo Show Application Review Fee, which may include proposed works to be completed specifically for the exhibit.

For additional artwork submissions, there is a $10 fee per image up to a maximum of 15 artwork images total per proposal.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Artwork submitted to The Untitled Space for the exhibition must be unique works by the artist, preferably created within the last 5 years, and available for sale. Artists may submit up to 10 works of art for consideration included in the $50 USD solo show proposal review fee, which may include proposed works to be completed specifically for the exhibit. For additional artwork submissions, there is a $10 fee per image up to a maximum of 15 artwork images total per proposal. The gallery will notify artists if their work is of interest and if they need to supply any more information or images for consideration for the exhibition opportunity. One artist will be awarded a gallery solo show to take place in 2025, which will additionally be featured online and on socials as noted above. At least one 2nd place artist will be awarded an online solo show on Artsy and will be featured on The Untitled Space's website and other online platforms of the gallery.

The terms of art consignment and exhibition dates will be agreed by both parties before moving forward with deliveries. The accepted artist must deliver the artwork to The Untitled Space gallery according to the agreed dates and will be responsible for collecting any works that are unsold. All costs for transportation of the artwork(s) are the responsibility of the artist. If your work(s) are selected, The Untitled Space reserves the exclusive right to sell the artwork during the course of the exhibition, and for an additional 90 (ninety) days after the gallery exhibition closes via the online exhibition on Artsy and any other sales platforms of the gallery. All artwork must be for sale. Any work marked POR (Price on Request) or NFS (Not For Sale) will not be eligible for entry into the exhibition. All artwork must be signed or include a certificate of authenticity, framed (if relevant) and ready to hang, labeled on the back with your name and title of the artwork, and year created. Any oversized (larger than 72"), overweight (more than 30lbs) or works requiring special installation must be installed with the artist present unless otherwise agreed by the gallery. All entries must be registered/received by midnight, February 2, 2025. All application fees are non‐refundable.

Terms & Conditions

- I agree to the conditions of the entry and exhibition as outlined in the application.

- If selected for the exhibition I agree to provide any necessary documentation for the promotion and sale of artwork featured in the exhibition.

- I agree to deliver and collect my artwork to The Untitled Space within the timeframe noted by the gallery regarding the exhibit. I also agree to cover any fees for transportation should it be accepted for the exhibit. 

- I understand that the artwork must be signed (or include a signed certificate of authenticty), framed (if relevant), ready to install with appropriate instructions and hardware, and include return shipping labels (if shipped).

- I agree to allow The Untitled Space the exclusive right to handle all sales of the artwork during the course of the exhibition and for an additional 90 (ninety) days after the exhibition closes in order to follow up with collectors. 

- I agree to allow The Untitled Space to publish images of my artwork featured in the exhibition on their website, on Artsy.net and other websites in order to promote the exhibition and sales, as well as in media/press outlets in relation to the exhibition.

- I agree to pay the total application entry fee below. 

SUBMIT YOUR FORM

Once you have completed the form and successfully uploaded artwork images, press submit to finalize your application. You will be forwarded to the payment page to process the application fee. Applications that are incomplete including payment of the application fee will not be reviewed or considered for the exhibition.

The non-refundable proposal review fee helps the gallery cover costs that directly affect our ability to create a space that includes emerging, underrepresented, and/or marginalized artists and not just a commercially focused gallery, and additionally supports our non-profit initiative Art4Equality.
