    If your internship meets the course requirements, you will receive an override and then an email with information on how to register for the class. Don't worry, the class won't fill up before you register.

    Please collect the following documents prior to beginning your application: your job description, job offer and supervisor signature form. They are required to complete this application.

  • Student Requirements for JOUR 597

    Please read closely
  •  

    The following criteria are required of all students enrolled in the JOUR 597 course:

    • Work at least 140 hours by the end of the semester at the internship organization
    • Attend a required class orientation meeting 
    • Turn in the following assignments as scheduled in the course syllabus:
      • Weekly journal entries from the internship detailing student’s experiences
      • A written paper based on an interview with the intern supervisor
      • A midterm progress report to be completed by both the intern and the supervisor
      • A final paper
      • Student and employer final evaluations to be submitted electronically 

    Notes:

    • All course assignments and the 140 hours of work must be completed by the last day of class.
    • Your course work and internship hours must be completed during the same semester.
    • JOUR 597 is a three-credit-hour course and tuition must be paid accordingly. If you are approved for and added to the class, you are responsible for paying any fees prior to their deadlines. Missing tuition deadlines may cause you to be dropped from the class by the university.
