  • Deadline: March 1, 2026

    Technical Secretary Job Description

  • BACKGROUND. Beginning in 2025, a formal application and review process was created to assign technical secretaries to regional championships. All regional championships will have one or two technical secretaries assigned. A single technical secretary will only be assigned if that person has extensive national championship technical secretary experience. Where two technical secretaries are assigned, one, at a minimum, must have some technical secretary experience (i.e., two inexperienced technical secretaries will not be assigned to the same event). The Technical Committee will begin reviewing applications shortly after the March 1 deadline and official assignments will be made no later than April 1. Since technical secretaries and meet directors work very closely with each another, the Technical Committee will consult all regional meet directors and ask for input prior to making the final selections. Once the Technical Committee has made its selections, those recommendations will be sent to the Executive Director of USA Powerlifting for final approval. Upon receiving final approval of assignments, the chair of the Techncial Committee will communicate with each applicant to let them know if they have been selected or not. Those who have been selected have the option to accept or decline the assignment. The USA Powerlifting regions are shown below. It is not required that a referee be a resident of the region for which they are applying to be a technical secretary. Prior to signing and submitting this application, it is critial to understand, review, and agree to the terms listed at the bottom of this application.
