Across Galveston, many households are working, earning income, and still struggling to afford the basics. These households are ALICE: Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.

Join United Way of Galveston for a November Lunch & Learn focused on understanding who ALICE is in our community, what the data tells us about financial hardship, and why this matters for organizations serving Galveston-area residents.

This session will introduce the ALICE framework and explore how housing, childcare, transportation, food, healthcare, and other essential costs affect households whose incomes are above the federal poverty level but still below what it takes to cover a basic household budget.

Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of local ALICE data and how it can inform programs, partnerships, outreach, and conversations about community needs.

This session is designed for nonprofit leaders, program staff, faith communities, volunteers, funders, and other community partners who want a stronger understanding of the financial realities facing working households in our community.
