The Avery Millerick Scholarship Fund was created to honor Avery’s legacy by supporting athletes who embody the same values she lived by—good character, kindness, and a commitment to serving others. Each year, one to two deserving applicants will be selected to receive this award in recognition of their dedication to making a positive impact in their communities. Applications are due annually on April 11th, (Avery’s birthday) and must include a personal letter demonstrating how the applicant upholds these qualities in their daily life. Through this scholarship, we aim to celebrate Avery’s spirit and inspire future generations to continue her example of kindness and service.

The Avery Millerick Scholarship Fund is an outright grant. Although recipients are under no obligation to make repayment, it is hoped that once graduated and engaged in a productive career they will help honor the memory of Avery by giving future athletes a similar financial opportunity by paying it forward and contributing to the fund.

How to Apply:
Your complete application, including all attachments, can be submitted electronically once opened in Adobe or be sent via email to veagym@yahoo.com with the name of the scholarship in the Subject line of your email. Deadline for filing is April 11th every year. Letters of recommendation must be sent by mail and postmarked no later than April 11 of that qualilfying year. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Your application will be reviewed by members of the Scholarship Committee and the fund holder. Selection will be based on a athlete’s commitment to service in our community, letters of recommendation, letter from parent explaining financial hardship and personal letter from the athlete.

Finalists may be contacted for an interview. Athletes will be notified by email of any scholarship award or denial on or before May 30th.

Application Requirements:

• Completed and signed application –emailed with required attachments by April 11th
• 2 letters of recommendation by teachers or coaches.
• 1 letter by the parent explaining the financial hardship.
• A letter must accompany your application. It must be typed, double spaced using 12 point

Times New Roman font and should be no more two pages long.

I understand that receipt of this scholarship grant is contingent on continued enrollment for a minimum of one full all-star season. Falsification of any information or failure to meet these requirements will result in the termination of my scholarship and I will be obligated to return any grant monies already received.

I hereby grant and assign The Avery Millerick Scholarship Fund and VEA Gym the right to use my biographical information, essay response, and my image to publicize my nomination and/or receipt of this scholarship award, and to promote the goals of the scholarship, for editorial, trade, advertising or any other purpose and in any manner and medium, including website and internet promotion.

I also consent to have a copy of my application and all supporting materials retained indefinitely by The Avery Millerick Scholarship Fund.
