Victoria College in the University of Toronto invites nominations for the Shaftesbury Creative Writer-in-Residence, for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Nominees should have an established track record of creative writing in any genre, including national and international recognition; teaching and mentoring capabilities; and the ability to make a positive contribution to the Victoria College community by engaging students in creative citizenship.
The Shaftesbury Creative Writer-in-Residence will lead a 12-week seminar or workshop and participate in other activities that foster a dynamic environment for creative writing at Victoria College. These may include readings or public lectures, mentoring student writers, and participating in events connected to the College’s program in Creativity and Society. Victoria College is strongly committed to diversity within its community and especially welcomes nominations of racialized persons/persons of colour, women, Indigenous People of North America, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ+ persons, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas.
Letters of nomination should address the nominee’s excellence and achievements as a writer and potential to have a positive impact on the Victoria College community. Please include a brief literary CV of the nominee if possible.
