  • P.E.O. Chapter DX, Dallas has established the Woman of Distinction Scholarship for a woman who resides in the Dallas Metropolitan Area or is attending an accredited post-secondary school in the Dallas Metropolitan Area. The award will be a minimum of $2,000 will be paid directly to the educational institution. 

    P.E.O. Chapter DX, Texas is looking for a Woman of Distinction who exhibits a clear understanding of plans for her future and demonstrates the quality of commitment necessary to accomplish her goals. Initiative and leadership qualities are valued. Though we will be accepting scholarship applications from women of any age, working on any course of study, each applicant will be compared to her peers (i.e., a high school senior will not be compared to a graduate student, but to other high school seniors). 

     

  • I. Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be able to answer "yes" to the following questions in order to apply for the Woman of Distinction Scholarship.

  • II. Required Documents

    All documents (in PDF format) including Letters of Recommendations, must be received on or before the last day of February by 5:00 pm (central time zone).
    • Two letters of recommendations; one from the applicant's academic or business world and one personal recommendation.
      • Letters of Recommendations should be on letterhead and emailed in PDF format, if possible.
      • Recommendation letters must be delivered via email directly to the Scholarship Committee Chair. Note: The applicant may not send the letter of recommendation, it must come directly from the person who is sending the letter of recommendation.

    • Transcript from last academic institution attended (Unofficial Transcript is acceptable or most recent work evaluation if returning to school after an extended absence.)
    • Applicants may send an email to the Scholarship Chair by email confirming that all documents (including Letters of Recommendation) have been received. 
    • Note: Applicants who have been selected for personal interviews will be required to show proof of status as a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada (i.e., birth certificate, passport, or legal permanent residency documentation). NOTE: A driver's license is NOT proof of citizenship or permanent citizenship.

  • III. Selection Criteria

    The successful applicant will have:
    • A clear vision of her future and path to realizing her vision
    • Academic and life skills necessary to execute her plan, including evidence of strong initiative and commitment to realizing her vision.
    • Evidence of being distinct among her peers in positive ways that will advance her, her family and/or her community.
    • She will be seeking an Associates Degree or higher, a License, Certification, or other Credential necessary to participate in her chosen field.
    • The Selection Committee may consider both merit and need, at their discretion.
