Rescue Volunteer
  • Vizsla Rescue Volunteer

  • The Vizsla Society of Ontario Inc. (VSO) needs a roster of volunteers to  help with rehoming and rescuing Vizslas.  Since we never know where these dogs will be located, the VSO will try to call on suitable volunteers who live closest to the location where the dog is and/or where potential / eligible adopting owners live.

If you can help out with any of the following tasks, please complete this form.

    • Visiting, assessing & following up on dogs before they are surrendered and after being rehomed
    • Visiting a shelter to view a dog that's been turned in
    • Outreach to shelters
    • Transport (e.g., from a surrender home/shelter to a foster or adopted home)
    • Fostering dogs
    • Visiting the homes of potential / eligible adopting owners.

If you wish to foster a dog, we need to collect more information about your home and work environments. Thank you in advance for your committment and devotion to help!

NOTE: We are unable to compensate for any of these tasks and activities so we are grateful to those who volunteer their time and expenses to help with this cause.

Direct any questions about our Rehoming / Rescue program to rescue@vsovizsla.org.

  • The Vizsla Society of Ontario (VSO) Inc. [VSO] and its volunteers and/or agents make a concerted effort to obtain as much detailed information as possible about the health, behaviour, and temperament of each dog that is surrendered for rehoming and to provide the foster / volunteer / agent with full disclosure of this information. The VSO will not knowingly foster or adopt out any dog deemed to be a biter or a danger to people or children.  Nevertheless, it is impossible to know everything about a dog’s complete history.

Rescued animals are often stressed and fearful; they may be recovering from abuse, injury, or medical problems and they can be unpredictable and capable of causing harm. The VSO strongly recommends that all association and/or contact with Vizslas needing rehoming be conducted with caution and a full awareness of the risks involved.
