Off-Campus Housing Requirements
The following is Warner University’s policy concerning living off-campus and how to qualify for a specific off-campus housing status.
Commuter Status: Traditional students commuting less than 50 miles from a parent/legal guardian member may apply to be exempt from the room and board policy. Those who feel they meet the commuter guidelines need to be advised that the Student Life Office requires a notarized letter from the parent/ legal guardian. Please print this Commuter Notary Form, complete (with a notary), and upload below. This letter must show the address documented and confirmed by the notarization. In addition, they must provide a copy of a current bill and parent’s driver’s license both confirming the address. There are no exceptions to this.
Married/ Parent Status: Traditional students who wish to be approved under the married/parent status must be married or expecting to be married within the requested semester or a legal parent/ guardian.
23 Years of Age/ 5th Year Senior Status:
All unmarried full time undergraduate students must live in campus housing until the age of 23 or 5th year senior status. If you desire to live off-campus and meet the age or 5th year senior status guideline, then you need to fill out the Off-Campus Housing Application.
Please also note that the contracting of a lease does not constitute Student Life approval. If you do not meet the guidelines for living off-campus, you will still be charged for housing and meals, and expected to move on campus. You will be expected to forego the lease, regardless of the cost you may incur. If you have a question as to whether you meet any of the criteria, please come by the Student Life office and ask questions. This is much cheaper than breaking a new lease because you failed to follow the proper procedure.
*Applications can not be applied for the current semester if it is in progress. If assigned housing on campus prior to the start of the semester and then approved for off-campus housing, a fee may incur. The deadline to submit this form is 2 weeks from the first day of classes, after that period submissions will be applied to the following semester. After classes begin, approvals are prorated based off the week of the semester. Please refer to the student handbook for breakdown of percentage refund.
Students will be notified of their application status through the Residence Life email. If you have been approved to live off-campus for any of the above reasons, you are not required to submit any future requests for approval. However, if you are approved, you forfeit your residential spot and you go to the bottom of the waiting list if you still choose to live on campus. Also keep in mind that approvals are based off of the semester specified in the request. If you forfeit the privilege and choose to still live on campus, students must start the application process over and there is no guarantee of approval based off of previous applications. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Student Life Office.
Note: If you are applying under the Commuter Status, you will be required to attach the above documents to this application before submission.
