  • Join the W.I.S.E. Partnership team as we beautify our growing Central Hub campus at 2700 W. Chicago Blvd. Volunteers will help plant trees, shrubs, and pollinator-friendly flowers that will surround our future W.I.S.E. Community Hub and community bench space. Together, we will bring this acre of Detroit soil to life with vibrant colors, nurturing care, and a strong sense of community spirit!

    Volunteer Roles:

    Planting and watering flowers, shrubs, and trees
    Mulching and border cleanup
    Bench and garden bed preparation
    On-site hospitality and setup support
    Photography and social media coverage
    Volunteer Requirements:

    Ages 14 and up (youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult)
    Able to participate outdoors for 2–3 hours
    Closed-toe shoes, gloves, and outdoor clothing required

  • 1. Volunteer Participation & Assumption of Risk
    I, the undersigned participant, acknowledge that I am voluntarily participating in outdoor volunteer activities with W.I.S.E. Partnership, including planting, lifting, bending, carrying materials, using gardening tools, and performing general site work.

    I understand that these activities may involve certain risks, including but not limited to:

    Slips, trips, or falls
    Insect bites or environmental exposure
    Strains, sprains, or minor injuries
    Contact with soil, mulch, stones, or natural elements
    Accidental injuries from tools or equipment
    By signing below, I voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation and agree that I am participating at my own risk.


    2. Release of Liability
    I hereby release and hold harmless the following parties in exchange for permission to participate:
    W.I.S.E. Partnership, its directors, officers, staff, volunteers, contractors, representatives, and partners
    from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, damages, losses, or liabilities, whether known or unknown, arising from or related to any injury, illness, accident, or incident that may occur during volunteer activities.

    This release applies to ordinary negligence. It does not apply to gross negligence or intentional acts.


    3. Medical Consent
    I certify that I am physically able to participate in planting activities and will notify W.I.S.E. staff if I have any limitations.
    In the event of an emergency, I consent to receiving reasonable medical treatment and agree to be responsible for any associated costs.


    4. Photo, Video & Media Release
    I grant permission to W.I.S.E. Partnership to photograph, film, or record me during the volunteer event and to use these images—without compensation—for promotional materials, reports, social media, websites, and publications.

    I understand that:

    My image may appear in group or individual photos
    My first name may be used, but my personal contact information will never be shared
    I may revoke permission in writing, which will apply to future use only

    5. Volunteer Expectations
    I agree to:

    Follow safety instructions and use tools responsibly
    Respect the property and fellow volunteers
    Report any unsafe conditions immediately
    Wear appropriate clothing (closed-toe shoes required)

    6. Parent/Guardian Consent (For Volunteers Under 18)
    Volunteers ages 14–17 must have a parent/guardian sign granting permission to participate and agreeing to the terms of this waiver.
