Puppy Class - CLASS AT DGS$225.00

COMPLETE 4 WEEK PUPPY COURSE. Also now offering single session puppy class workshops, see link above. In this 4 week puppy class we will learn about your puppy’s developmental stages while your pup socializes in a safe supervised environment. We will cover housebreaking, mouthing/chewing, jumping, biting/nipping, manners & greetings, setting a routine, barking, nutrition, bond building exercises and ALL YOUR PUPPY QUESTIONS ANSWERED! A well-trained dog is a joy to be around, all it takes is a little know-how and consistency, so let's get started!

Foundation 1 - CLASS AT DGS$300.00

Full Course for Obedience and Manners Level 1 (Pups 16 weeks and older) Foundation I is a first obedience and manners course for dogs of all ages. We will teach and implement good leadership skills to build a positive relationship with accountability. Your dog will learn Sit, and Down reliably, and a responsive recall. Polite leash walking on leash, and greetings with household manners are covered. Stopping Unwanted behaviors such as jumping, and excessive barking will be reviewed in detail. The class environment is great for practice and support. We teach you how to become a loving and effective leader and how to set your pup up for success as a part of your family and community, both inside and outside the home.

Foundation 2-CLASS AT DGS$300.00

Full Course for Obedience and Manners Level 2 (Pre-Requisite Foundation 1) In this next more advanced level part two of Foundation Obedience, we tackle building reliability of commands with Distance, Duration, and Distraction. The Sit-Stay and Down-Stay are perfected, Go to your Bed and Calm, Coming when Called in an Emergency, Staying Back from the Door when Guests come, perfecting Leash-walking, Stopping More Unwanted Behaviors, Teenage Tune-up, all your Q & A and more!

FOUNDATION 2 Please Select 6 Week Class

THERAPY DOG SKILLS CLASS$300.00

6 Week THURSDAY @ 2:15pm-3:30pm 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/9, 10/23, 1-/30 Therapy Dog Skills Class will help prepare you and your dog to be tested as a potential pet therapy team. We will cover specific test items on the Pet Partners Skills & Aptitude Tests, along with helping to acclimate your dog to wheelchairs, crutches and walkers. You will also learn what to do when visiting and how to recognize signs of stress in your dog and ways to support your dog. PREREQUISITES: Your dog must know how to Sit and Down and have a reliable Stay and Recall (Come). Dogs must also have a nice temperament and enjoy meeting new people and being petted. Successful completion of Foundation 2 or Canine Good Citizen (CGC) class is required. Dogs over 9 months old are welcome but cannot be tested until they are 1 year old.

After completing Foundation Parts 1 & 2, your dog is ready to prep to be a Canine Good Citizen! Prepare your dog to receive certification from the AKC by passing the Canine Good Citizen test!

INTRO TO AGILITY$300.00

Prerequisites for Intro to Agility: We require 2 levels of Foundation classes or equivalent before coming into an Agility class. Dogs need to be able to focus on their handler in a room with other dogs present and moving around, and have all the basics - Sit, Down, Wait/Stay, Watch Me, Come and walking on a leash without pulling. Dogs also must be under control on a harness or flat collar. Other requirements: Dogs must be comfortable and non reactive towards strangers and other dogs. If your dog should go into heat she will be unable to continue the session so be mindful of timing as there are no refunds as space is extremely limited. Please look at the dates carefully, as the first 4 weeks are mandatory attendance dedicated to learning the obstacles and equipment in order.

RALLY-OBEDIENCE$340.00

TUESDAYS 5-6PM 9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, 10/14, 10/21 SIX WEEK COURSE(single session sign ups available) Rally focuses on the teamwork between dogs and their human. You and your dog navigate, side- by-side, through a course of 10-20 different signs. The signs indicate a skill for your dog to perform, like sit or down. You and your dog move continuously throughout the course with a clear sense of teamwork. Rally is about working happily together while performing the necessary skills. Sabine is committed to positive, force-free training that is enjoyable for both ends of the leash and forms a strong, trusting bond between dog and handler. REACTIVE ROVER CLASS AT DGS$340.00

TUESDAYS 6:30-7:30PM 9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, 10/14, 10/21 SIX WEEK COURSE (single session sign ups available for level 2) Who is eligible for this class? This class is for owners with dogs that react negatively towards other unfamiliar dogs. This negative reaction can be growl-lunging, excessive barking and / or snapping. It is suited for dogs that have never made contact with the other dog as well as for those who have a bite history. Dogs with aggression towards people can be eligible for class if they can be handled safely on the property and are expected to be able to function in a class environment. (case by case decision) Equipment: The owner must be willing to use a basket muzzle on their dog and strictly follow instructions. The dog will be handled on a flat collar / martingale, harness or in some cases a head-halter. Prong-collar or choke-chain will not be accepted in class. Training goal: The class teaches the owner to recognize the signs when the dog becomes uncomfortable with a situation and how and when to intervene accordingly using management and desensitization/counter conditioning. The dog will learn to become a team member with increased confidence and therefore will rely more on the guidance of his/her human partner. The goal is achieved using TTouch, controlled slow exposure to stimuli, with relationship & confidence building exercises.

Dog Gone Smart will be following these CDC Guidelines to maintain social distancing and sterilization. Our facility has UV light sterilizers installed in the duct work to sanitize airflow.

Class Protocol (Please agree to Terms and Conditions Below):

We will have a max of up to 8 dogs per class enrolled. (This number may change per CDC and CT Guidelines)
Class Registration is Online Only via this Secure Portal. (front desk registration not available at this time.)
Only 1 family member (must be adult 18 or older) may attend per dog!
We will have socially distanced markers to guide you to stay at the minimum of 6 feet apart at all times
ALL students and staff to wear masks that fit properly (over mouth and nose) at all times in the building. Masks are to be placed on before entering the building
Hand sanitizing stations will be available at entrances.
Any clients or staff experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19, may not attend our in person classes.
Any clients who have been exposed to familiy members who have tested positive or are experiencing symptoms may not attend our in person classes.
Any clients who are in quarantine, may have been exposed, or have recently traveled to a high risk state or country may not attend until quarantine period expires with appropriate testing protocol.
We will continue to offer our opportunity for virtual instruction as well

VACCINES/Fecal Test: Before your class starts we must have your PET PROFILE FORM, along with proof of a clear fecal test, Distemper (all dogs), and Rabies and Bordatella vaccines (all dogs over 4 months). There will not be the ability to switch classes due to these missing documents once you register, please be mindful of this before reserving one of our limited class spots.

Due to class size limitations once the class has 8 dogs it will close registration and if you are 1 of the 8, there will be no refunds or transfer to other services. In extenuating circumstances where you can not continue, we will try to work with you when possible to apply any balance to our other services or future class options, but this is not guaranteed. In-person make-ups may not always be possible for missed classes if other classes are at capacity. PLEASE REQUEST MAKEUP CLASS OR MISSED MATERIALS HERE. We will do our best to get you caught up with a zoom lesson (additional fee), a live stream of your class when possible and the written materials and will help troubleshoot any missed instruction. Please understand that there may be a lag time in the registration process and the class sizes. All class spots are given first come first serve. We will notify you if the class you signed up for did become full just prior to your registration and will offer you alternate options for the same level class or a refund.
