When we launched our first survey in May, our focus was on the pandemic alone. Much has changed in our world and in our communities since then. The death of George Floyd in late May and subsequent nationwide protests brought forth a national reckoning on policing and race. Tragically, the pandemic has spread throughout the nation, and California has become one of the COVID-19 hot zones.

With this in mind, we wanted to offer readers like you another opportunity to share your thoughts about the changes you want to see in California as we reimagine our future.

In May, we asked you: What is the most important thing you want to see changed about life in California (or life in the U.S. if you don’t live in the state) after the pandemic? Has your perspective changed since you submitted your response? If so, how and why?
In May, we asked you: What is the most important issue you feel the pandemic highlighted that the government, or the private sector, should address immediately? Has your perspective changed since you submitted your response? If so, how and why?
